One of the civics unlocks the ability in every city to sacrifice one population in order to "Start Inquisition" in that city. Per the in-game tooltip, the inquisition boosts stability by 10, and lasts for 10 turns on normal game speed. This seems a little lackluster, and off-theme. An inquisition should be about religion or the strength of faith in your cities...in some way.
So, I'm wondering if there are any "hidden" mechanics at play with this action.
Does the inquisition do anything else?
Does it immediately convert x-number of non-believers in a city to your religion?
Does it push back on foreign religious conversion?
