In a blitz-speed game today, in a single-player game, while in the Medieval Era, I received notification that two players had purchased access to a total of three of my resources for the following:
Obsidian for 7 Gold
Papyrus for 3 Gold
Lead for 2 Gold
Is it just me, or do those amounts seem minuscule to what a player typically pays for access to another's resources?
I haven't really paid attention in prior games, so this is an honest question.
Yes, amount of gold you receive through trade is usually quite insignificant. This amount, however, is not all your trade partner pays. All empires pay both the cost of shipment and tariffs (Land or Naval routes) and cost of trade license of merchandise. The actual price of merchandise, which is generally quite cheap, is what you receive after trade. While you're buying, however, you have to pay both costs.
