How to ensure you can revassalize your rebelling vassal?

Someone posted recently but I can't find it.

They complained that their vassal rebelled and when they won, they didn't have enough warscore to vassalize them again. Another person replied that it's because you rejected the demand.

With that in mind, in my new game, I let my vassal declare war on me, with "set us free" being their only grievance. I won. But I don't have enough points to vassalize them again!!
So how to do it? Do I have to burn down cities or something?

Hi,

To avoid rebelling vassal, I recommend you to keep a strong army.

If they declare war on you anyway, crush them like insects, kill every unit on your way and take their cities. That will surely calm them down and up your war score.

Moreover, be sure to have high war support before war by keeping grievances or demandes against them.

I hope this will help you to dominate the world.

How many cities does your vassal have and how much war score does it cost to vassalize?

Essentially your Total War Score = WS When War Declared + WS When Peace Agreement Signed + 30 WS x # of Cities Captured

Other than ensuring that you have 100 war support when your vassal declared war on you and you end the war when you reach to or stay at 100 war support, only source of additional war score is capturing enemy cities. You ideally need to try to capture all enemy cities to ensure you have enough war support to vassalize them again.

By the way, I personally don't think vassalizing is a good option to deal with rival empires. It's much, much beneficial to conquer their cities, even one city at a time, for both crippling your rival and strengthening your empire.

Actually, it was so in summer, I played party few days ago, where I vassalized most of AI and in some cases they didn’t need any war score and in other needed. I don’t understand what is the reason and condition for free vassalisation now, so I believe it is a bug and must be reported. If you have save files, make a bug report, please, I have lost mine

Thanks Esoul.

Yes, one of my vassals - I conquered half his cities and it still required about 270 warscore, while I only had 180.

But when my second vassal rebelled I also conquered just 1 of his 2 cities (the other was too far away) and the war score to revassalize was 0. So I think it must have been a bug or something in the first case.

Here is my original save file (red vassal with high warscore required). Do you already have a bug report open?. NoVassal.ctr

To the other commenters, yes, to win, just take the cities. But I was RPing and trying to remain a small warlike state surrounded by vassals.

Sorry, I misunderstood your original post. I have one last question, though: Do you remember who declared war on both cases and what demands were on the table on behalf of you and your enemies?

In both cases, they declared war on me, and the only grievance was the "set us free" one. I didn't have any grievances on them. That's why I was confused because it was the exact same situation.
