Is this game singleplayer-oriented or for multiplayers?

I am just curious which of the experience of singleplayers or multiplayers the dev team will target primarily.

It affects mostly the balancing of the game, and I would not say which is better.

I would like it to be good for both. But if I have to make a choice, it would be to make it better for multiplayer :p

I imagine it will be the same as other Amplitude games. Simultaneous turns making it good for multiplayer and singleplayer

In my opinion, it is besically super difficult to perfectly adjust the game system for both single and multiplayers and eventually it would be better to focus one of them to produce a "better balanced" game.

Of course I like to see how the dev team accomplish a fantastic balancing if possible :)

Civ 6 has made it an active requirement that everything in the game has to work as well as multiplayer as it does in singleplayer and I think the whole experience has sufferd for it making it feel more like a board game than an immersive experience. I like playing with a friend now and then but I hope its primairly a singleplayer game.

Looking at Amplitude's past games, it will be mainly focused on SP but MP will be possible. The only thing to worry about is the presence of MP bugs like ES2 has, it angers me a lot when I'm playing MP and the game decides to break and we need to reload the save.

Asynchronous multiplayer would be fantastic. I wanted to see that in amplitude games for a long time now.

It will probably be oriented to multiplayer just as singleplayer, with the simultaneous turns mechanic incorporated as well

I believe Civ6 team has mostly aimed singleplayers, by introducing for exmaple the age score and puzzle-like districts management. It works well for immersive experience in singleplayers but not balanced for multiplayers. I mean, there are quite a few approaches for a player to enjoy competeing and finally defeating the AIs, but there have been a few options for them in multiplayers to survive.

It is totally fine if this coming game has mainly focus the singleplayers as well. But in that case we cannot expect so much in multiplayers and it might be better for us if the dev team provide a high flexibility in modding.

Going by their past work, it will probably be a strange mix of the two. The timeframe of the genre lends itself to primary singleplayer, but gearing toward multiplayer is a simple concession to the fact that there are hard limits to how good the AI in these games can reasonably be (and that's before you factor in the genuinely interesting subterfuge options they always add). In short, it'll be optimized for SP but you'll miss out on stuff if you aren't playing MP.

Here's a vote for single player.

All 4X are made for the single player. The multiplayer is only a secondary niche.

The only exception I know to this is Dominions 4 but it's super niche.

What exactly is the stuff I missed out on in Endless Legend and Endless Space 2 that I didn't get in SP?
