Independence and culture schisms?

I was just wondering how possible would be a mechanic where a chunk of your civilization could separate from the core, declaring independence and creating a new player, choosing an available culture from the actual or next era.

Once the set of 10 cultures per era loses its rigidity (for example, when one civilization decides to maintain its former culture into the next era) it opens up the possibility of a 11th (or even 12th) player to appear on the game. Even more if any given player gets defetead and thus removed from the game.

Not only that, it could also be that if there is a civ schism and a an 11th player is added to the game, the last civ to reach the next era is forced to maintain its culture if all of them are already assigned.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but I could not find any thread about that in this forum.

I know there is a "stability" mechanic in the game, but they haven't said how it will be used. I think that if cities that broke away formed minor factions that remain for the rest of the game but would be easier to reconquer that would be cool, but having a new culture that emerges after a revolution would also be a good idea. I had the idea that if you conquer a culture completely in one era, then in a later era the cities of that culture will have nationalism or something and will try to break away to form a new culture. So if Russia conquers Poland in the Industrial Era, Poland might break away in the Modern Era, or if Spain conquers the Inca in the Renaissance Era, then Gran Colombia could try to break away in the Industrial Era.

Totally. Probably the "stability" mechanic may be a clue in that direction. I dont know if ES or EL have a mechanich of that sort, that allows the emergence of new players after breakdowns.

That's a good idea honestly! Maybe the shism could come from religion or external influence. For exemple, in Endless Space 2, their is a skill on the diplomatic side of the scienc tree that permite you to absorb a system if it is too much expose to your influence. It could be a good thing.

We could maybe see something else, like sending a prophet or saint to an ennemie city to convert it and make it join your side, as independante allie or new territorie. But I really like the idea of the new player add to the game.

This could be very interesting and fun. Maybe when your empire is unhappy riots start to appear and some of you empire may separate.

This could also be an interesting opportunity for espionage. When you dislike an other county you may be able to fund separatist movements etc.

Totally, I hadn't thought about spies and separatism and it is indeed a great mechanism to add to the game.

I hope to see some of this in Humankind, if not in the base game at least in any possible expansion. It would add a lot more of dynamism to the game.

I 'd really like to see this, but I think it has to be spatialized if you want separatism to be relevant. If your entire empire is "unhappy", that leeds to revolution.

Spies are going to be part of the game, if you look at there developer's diary: origins at 1:49 min you can see a part of the technology tree.

The last part of the technology guilds is called spies. So spies are present in the main game.

Also intresting is the reforestation, so you will be able to to regrow a forest.

We've mentioned it in other places before, but I recalled yesterday I never replied to this thread: Like our previous games had "approval," Humankind will feature something similar, but you'll have to be patient until we go into details.
