One thing I've always found interesting is the imperialistic nature of 4x games, and of course the game should have militaristic and aggressive playstyles available for a victory type, but a particular idea I thought of what having diplomatic fame awarded for demilitaterization and decolonization. For instance, after taking a city in war, you could return it in peace and recieve a fame boost for it, thus allowing pacifist and non-expansionist players a benefit to staying peaceful. The fame benefit could still be earned after peace was made, but with diminishing returns as the conquering nation continues to benefit from its occupation. Potentially, this fame boost could increase dramatically after a really large number of turns, or after certain cultural policies were unlocked (think British decolonization cultural attitude.) This would add both a gameplay element for pacifist or towering players, but also add a cultural depth to the 4X genre as a whole by saying imperialization isn't inherently the only attitude a civilization can take.

I don't recall if we have any fame rewards for forming alliances or similar diplomatic actions. However, as part of the Fame system, territorial expansion is only one way to gain fame, and should not be enough to win by itself, and is definitely not necessary to do so. You will be able to win by focusing on peacful pursuits like growth or science.

I think this would be an awesome thing to include. It'd be really cool if you could gain fame by brokering peace between two warring civilizations, which may require you offering resources of your own to each civ. Certainly something that has become more common in modern times, but I believe is something that has occurred throughout history.

I understand most games have peaceful routes, and I do enjoy those, but I was specifically hoping to see something akin to Civilization's Diplomatic victory type. While admittedly clunky, the mechanic at least tries to emphasize diplomacy as a winning strategy. I was just hoping to see a form of this developed more clearly, and with less of an artificially created feel to it.

I specifially like this addition, I really enjoy feeling like the power creating stability in my games, but it's often unrewarding, if at all possible. Thanks for your addition.

It wouldn't surprise me if building the United Nations got some fame at least.
