Don't nerf OP cultures, just buff weak cultures, there's no OP if everyone's OP. I don't want to see my fav cultures get nerfed to the ground, so just make weaker cultures much more stronger.

In Civ 6 I really like Civilizations Expanded mod that buffs all civs and makes everyone strong so that way only your skill (and a bit of luck) determines whether you are going to win, not the civ itself.

So make everyone out of control :D please don't nerf my fav egypt

There's a general problem with production based civs, cause you get literally EVERTYHING with production (science, culture, gold, etc.).

While, let's say, you are a science civ, great, I remember my first game where I picked Babylon and was shocked when I noticed that I am up ahead of research tree but it literally takes ages to build what I discovered.

Gold focused civs can buyout their buildings though.

I don't think direct nerfs are necessarily in order, but more general system mechanics changes might even the score.

Say, reducing the overall availability of stability and/or slightly increasing district production scaling so that Egypt and Harappa can't just SImcity to the moon and back.

The Hittites are honestly the culture that need more love in ancient era, followed by the Assyrians, the last ones have a use though and can work very well in a niche situation, while the Hittites in my opinion need some buff to their legacy trait, something like units get more experience than normal from battles.

This is not a wise view. Because of the overly generous design of one faction, all the other factions would have to be given candy, amplifying the pace of the game which is already too fast in the eyes of many.

Another argument is that it is much easier to nerf the two ancient civs that are obviously too powerful, rather than buffing the other 7 civs. Less work.

In multiplayer competitive games, we always ban the Egyptians, Harapeans and Khmers, because they are clearly identified as overpowered (especially the Khmers).

I agree absolutely. And we have to say that, with every culture buffed, in addition with the enormous advantages of luxury ressources, the two last eras would become just speedruns.

Buffing everything will shorten the game even more and lead to even more pacing problems. Nerfs are better.

100% agree. Harappans and Khmers are no brainers, and pace is a major problem due to cumulative effect of broken powers. So, nerfing those broken powers is the obvious solution.

I do think that overall there are a lot of cultures that could use a buff, as many give lackluster benefits, but if there are a few outliers that are outperforming the competition, it would both be better and easier to take them down a notch.

go back to civ6, the shitty game that is 99% feature creep where archers are the only thing that matters.
