As @Yumocetaes shows in this thread, the icons that appear down the middle of your empire's culture screen don't always line up with the affinity of the empire in confusing ways.  In the example, the Teutons (an Expansionist Culture) have coins for their legacy trait.  This can make it hard to look back at a glance and recall what cultures we were in previous eras.  Yumocetaes' Era IV culture was probably the Ming, but the icon isn't straightforward.  Yes, they represent the legacy traits, but there's enough wiggle room and inconsistency to cause confusion.

Proposal: Make these icons consistent and represent our cultures in one of two ways:

  1. The icons should be the affinity of our culture in that era.  e.g., Teutons would show the Expansionist icon instead of coins, Zhou would show the Aesthete icon instead of stabilty, etc.
  2. The icons should be the cultural icon of our culture in that era.  Currently culture icons only appear as icons we can choose as players, and on "rebels" when we liberate a city.  They could appear here as well to show our cultural timeline.

Thanks!
