Petition: change name of Argentinian culture in Humankind

I write to you in the hopes of seeing a historical and cultural misrepresentation in Humankind rectified, hoping that it becomes more inclusive in its depiction of the people represented under its denomination.

My issue with the game is with the denomination of an Argentinian culture. Born and raised in Uruguay, I find myself in the rather unsavory position of seeing how under the umbrella term “Argentina”, the entire experience and history of the River Plate / Río de la Plata is being conveyed. The whole concept of nation of immigrants descending from the ships applies to my country as much as it does to Argentina. Indeed, according to the italian Embassy’s estimates, over 40% of uruguayans descend from italians (myself being a dual uruguayan-italian national with both of my parents being italian descendants), and to see only Argentina representing this, as if it were the only country in the region is historically inaccurate and baffling from a societal point of view. People in Montevideo (Uruguay’s capital) and Buenos Aires even belong to the same dialect region in terms of language mapping, and it is usually impossible to tell one from the other, being us more closely related linguistically than people coming from other regions within our very own respective countries (the conurbano accent from Buenos Aires is 100% impossible for me to tell apart from that of a Montevideano).

In order to rectify this political and cultural blunder, a simple name change would suffice: changing the Argentinean culture name to “Platinean” would do the trick and also be more attuned to the name and experiences of other cultures in-game, which do not follow national standards but rather, ethno-linguistic commonalities. Platinean, as defined in Merriam-Webster’s webpage, means “bordering upon the River Plate or its chief tributaries”, a fantastic and historically accurate term that would make justice of our shared history and the uniqueness of our experience, without rendering Uruguay’s very own invisible.

Humankind is all about cultures, not countries. Were it a game based on nation-states (as Argentina is), I would have accepted the situation as it is. But being cultures the driving soul of the game, it behoves us to recognise the transnational characteristics of the entire River Plate region and the shared experience of people here; to give the platinean culture its rightful name.

If my plea should not prove to be convincing enough, you may find a couple of links from the BBC below which explain our cultural and linguistic similarities in an impeccable fashion:

I know that I will probably face significant bashing by many argentinians because of this but know that I love your country dearly (I have been to Buenos Aires more times than I can keep track of) and my petition stems not from animosity but rather, the commonalities and kinship which bind us together.

Allow me to thank you all for your time and diligence in reading my thread.

Thank you for the educational post!  Upvoted, if only to drive support information and more reading of this!

I like and agree with "Humankind is all about cultures, not countries", except that in the Industrial and Contemporary eras, the "Cultures" do seem to be strictly modern nation states (I've wondered, for example, if "Sweden" is meant to represent a broader "EU").  Pedantics aside, I can get behind Platineans and other non-"Nation-State" peoples.
