Duplicating here post from ideas section: https://community.amplitude-studios.com/amplitude-studios/humankind/ideas/3325-rework-formulas?page=1

Last update brought really many very nice mechanics. So, I think next step should be towards some balancing core mechanics of the game. Speaking of weakest game sides today, game mechanics which come up to my mind  are religion and civics. But beside our eyes there is also the very important core mechanic, which determines the game style and whole experience of each game party. And I’m speaking of core formulas.
Too understand how game ruining are they you only need to play mp game with experienced player.
I understand that devs don’t have time and money for some total balancing the game, but it would be really very nice, if many core formulas were reworked. For example , the food consumption and district cost formula, the pop buyout and money cost formulas, maybe add also influence buyout option. Would be nice to see some attachment territory discount for district cost.
I have made some research, and find out that city with 2 and 4 territories and same amount of makers quarters have the same amount of turns to build new districts. In the vanilla I never use the pop buyout option, while in mods it is really nice option due to low cost formula. The same could be said about money buyout. Still don’t understand why new cities start with all infrastructure, while there is NO any option to buy it for influence/money in old cities. The pop grow very strange. I have 150 food per turn but have to wait 2-3 turns instead 1 because of huge food consumption in the city, while effort from many specialists isn’t impactful . Also would be nice if religion/civics add more adjacency interaction.
I mean how COOL are some Natural Wonders, that buff your pops, or common quarters, or hamlets. Why there are no any civics with such effect, or some infrastructure which will specialise one city for something with such bonuses.
I hope devs will think about all foresaid, and next update will be towards balancing core mechanics and formulas rework. I think it doesn’t take much coding effort, only headache for game designers)

P.s.  I know there are many mods which are doing this today, but they also change tons of other concepts of the game, while some players as me still prefer vanilla vision of the game.
