I think it is time to allow for modded games to get Achievements.

We havent gotten any news for 7+ months now, nothing for the 3 year anniversary. To me that says the game is pretty much done and there won't be anything new anymore. This is a good time for modders to breath new fresh air into the game and get more people to play the game. Many of you will probably say "who cares about Achievements?!", well in my circle of players a lot do. Only 1 of my friends doesn't care, the rest of them played 1 vanilla game of Humankind and wanted to start to mod it for more balance and variety. When they learned this would disable Achievements they all said "ehh lets stick to Civ 6". Why? It's fun to try to work towards something thats unusual.

I don't get why mods disable Achievements in the first place. Especially if its because "it allows for cheats and lessens the importance of achieving something", which you can do anyways regardless of mods or not or use SAM with which you can just get any achievement you want with a single click. If there is a legit reason please enlighten me.

For Civ 6 it helped a lot, it kept the game fresh and you could mold it to something you like more, be it more balance, new additions, QoL improvements, whatever you want.

In our group this resulted in us playing Civ 6 for a way longer time than usual, we still play it today with different mod loadouts depending on who is playing together.

So TL;DR: Please just remove the restriction of not allowing Achievements in modded games.

I'd understand why regular achievements are disabled, since mods will allow for an unfair advantage or even allow an "Unlock all achievements" option.

However, custom achievements or "Unofficial" achievements throughout the same achievement mechanic might be nice?

Curious what OP thinks about this.

Thats the thing though, you dont need any mods or anything special. There is a program called SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) with which you can just get all achievements with one click. Takes 2 minutes to download, execute and press the button. If people want to cheat to get achievements they can already easily do so. Thats my whole point. There is no reason, non, nada, niente, 0 to not allow achievements with mods enabled. It's just a roadblock that blocks new life mods can give games.

We already had community Achievements in older games like Endless Space, maybe we could do polls for new achieves to be implemented into the game?

I am kinda hopeful again now that Amplitude can decide themself and doesnt have to answer to Sega.
