Like my previous post from Lucy OpenDev, I thought I would make some notes as the game went along and post them here, since the post-game survey doesn't really ask for bug reports and observations, just general feelings about the game.
Just like before, I am really enjoying this OpenDev and can't wait for the final game!
Here's some things I noticed that seem to be bugs:
A couple of times, a unit of mine disappeared from the map - the model and banner disappeared, but the unit was still clickable and could be used (just very hard to find!)
At one point another civ took a territory bordering me, I demanded it, and they demanded gold in return. I paid the gold but I didn't get the territory.
Auto explore seems to be broken for naval units - I click the toggle to set it "on" and the toggle goes straight back to "off".
When a foreign war is declared, the notification doesn't say who is at war. (The equivalent peace notification does, so I assume it being missing from the war notification is a bug)
I think the "X reached the Y era with the X" notification always puts the same civ twice. e.g. if Romans reach the Medieval era and pick English, it says "English reached the Medieval Era with the English" instead of "Romans reached the Medieval Era with the English".
And some queries/"nice to have" things:
I had about 20 civic points accrued at the end of the game - granted I was going down the Aesthete route but it wasn't obvious how to get more decisions to spend those points on.
Trade still doesn't seem 100% clear to me - over civs can gain access to my resources without asking so long as a treaty is in place, so presumably I still get to keep the resources even when another civ is trading for it?
I wasn't sure of the difference between trade routes being "blocked" vs "destroyed". There were no notifications of a "blocked" route resuming, I think? And both are triggered "due to violence" without really knowing what caused that to happen. (Hostile unit on the path taken by a trader?)
The civ "now feels differently about you" doesn't say what they were before, only what they are now. Showing the previous attitude would help a lot in determining whether their attitude is getting better or worse.
Towards the end of the game I could claim grievances when other civs annexed minor civs that I was "patron" of - but I'm not sure how I got to be patron of them in the first place. I didn't do anything to achieve patronage and I couldn't see any way of checking it etc.
It would be nice to prevent certain notifications popping up - particularly pop gain/loss, or gaining a civic point when you have nothing to spend it on.
Hope that all makes sense, once again thanks to Amplitude for inviting us to test the game!
