Every time I try to play a game the game will stop after 2-4 turns and will completely shut down to the desktop. I do not get any crash reports or windows showing a message whit that the game stopped responding. it just completely shuts down. I can't show any screenshots because there is no report or anything to show. I can only tell that yesterday I was able to play until turn 100 without problems. and since today every time, I try to play the game just shuts down after a couple of turns, and I have to restart the game and then I can play again 2 to 4 turns before the same thing happens again.

Could you please send your latest diagnostics.log files found here : C:\Users\username\Documents\Humankind\Temporary Files

And also the latest player.log (best if just after a crash) found here : C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\AMPLITUDE Studios\Humankind

I added the files you asked for plus some other crash files that were made at the same time from steam, as is see that steam also quits working at the same time. I hope this will help you find the problem. ps, I was now able to get 7 turns before the crash.

Oh woah, steam is crashing too ? Looks like a fun one.

Could you please try to disable the steam overlay ? You can find the option in the steam settings

I've been having crashes a ton.  In just under 10hr of gameplay I've easy crashed a dozen times.  It happens every few turns and sometimes it's like 2 turns, sometimes I get a good stretch in.  Doesn't happen in association with anything from what I can tell.  Often happens if I let the game idle for a bit, I'll come back and although music keeps playing, it's frozen.

Sometimes it'll just freeze in diplomacy or city screens.

Here's my temp files and player logs, though not right after a crash.  When I crash again, I'll upload an additional batch.

@gigahurts Same has above mate, could you try to start the game by adding the -force-vulkan parameter in steam ? (right clic> preference on the game on your library)

After adding that launch option, I loaded up to main menu fine, then went to continue my game and the loading menu stuck even though I could hear the game loaded up in the background.  Hitting escape triggered the pause menu sound, and hitting it again went back to game sound.  I could hear things going on when moving the mouse, but the loading screen didn't go away.  I tabbed out, then back in, and the loading bar changed from like 50-60% to maybe 1%, but still stuck.

Closed the game from the taskbar, loaded back up, this time it went to game just fine.  Performance seems maybe a little bit worse (50-60 fps, RTX 3090 + 10900k, 4K gsync 165hz monitor, max settings, turn 63) but not a huge difference.  Tabbing in and out of game causes black screen/window flashes I don't remember before.  I'm assuming all of this is just differences in the Vulkan APIs vs DirectX or whatever.

I'm going to play for a bit, will report back if I do/don't see crashes.  Thanks!

I tried it started a new game and the game crashed after about 15 turns before the game crashed one of my units got killed and the narrator started saying something. my unit got attacked after I ended my turn and I pushed the auto-resolve option for the battle. steam still crashes but the overlay does not anymore, but that is because I turned it off. I will have to go for now, but I will be back tomorrow. ps for hardware stat i am using an AM4 AMD Ryzen 7 3800X  for cpu and my gpu is an 3060 KFA2 RTX EX 1-Click OC i also have for RAM the following: 16GB DDR4/3200 Corsair Vengeance CL9 RGB PRO Heats.2x8GB.

Hit another freeze after about 18min of gameplay.  I noticed that the same thing that happened with the loading screen happened during the freeze.  Clicking and typing still seemed to be making a difference in the game, but the screen was completely frozen.  Tabbing out then back in changed what was on the screen.  This time, I noticed after a bit a Unity window popped up with the humankind logo, a red exclamation point, and a progress bar that filled quickly, then left.  Then windows killed the process automatically for being non-responsive.  This time it happened right at the transition to a new turn.

Should I keep using `-force-vulkan`?

Also, I realize my issue seems quite different from stalwarted's issue.  Want me to make a new thread or should I move to another existing one you know of?

Here's my logs:

Edit: here's the crash dump mentioned at the end of the Player.log file:

It seems like a crash of your nvidia drivers, somehow linked with the steam overlay. Weird one.

Could you send me a screenshot of your game options and a dxdiag.txt ?

Sorry for the confusion, did you mean stalwarted or me?  If me, by game options do you mean the in-game settings tabs?

I hadn't thought of updating my drivers, so I'm doing that shortly.

Here's a dxdiag (before driver update):

Just finished a few hour session with no freezes after updating my driver.  Border lines are all bugging out (they're dots instead of lines now) but so far no freezes.  Will update again after my next session.

I also just finished a game without the game crashing after a couple of turns, the only thing I did differently is that I did not open steam. I think the problem could be with the steam app running in the background maybe. here is the DxDiag file. and as for the game options do you mean the game settings in-game?
