Was playing a game where I was stuck on a small island. Had new world enabled so I wanted to get people over there as soon as possible. In the classical age I played as the Greeks and teched Seafaring Mastery ahead of time to get some cogs and start exploring the ocean. Once able to advance to the Medieval age I picked the norsemen to get their emblematic unit. Looking at the wiki it should unlock with Seafaring Mastery which I already have. But I think the fact that I already had it unlocked blocked the unlock of the emblematic unit. Looking at the tech tree it doesn't show on Seafaring Mastery and when I send my units out to sea they seem to be using the transport from Trade Expeditions since they get lost at sea one turn after entering deep sea.
Just wanted to report this, not sure if this holds true for other cultures as well when unlocking a culture after unlocking the tech that gives their emblematic unit.
