If you have an ongoing siege, and siege engines have been built, and you advance your era (eg medieval to early modern), those siege engines just suddenly cease to exist. Earlier siege engines (like trebuchets) should continue to remain in use and available until newer replacements are available… and they DEFINITELY shouldn’t just vanish when you advance eras.
