I was playing against a friend so we could learn better how war and diplomacy works.

I wanted to take the opportunity to try to get the "Smite the Wicked" challenge. So I played as the Mongols and got my level 3 Hero badge.

But despise that, I didn't got the challenge.

This is surprising also because I advanced in the "Famous" challenge with this game.

I think Gilgamesh (AI persona) is the spiritual brother of Civ V's Theodora. i.e. he seems to like surprise wars :)
