This same problem was discussed in the bug reports for the Beta, but since I am playing a full release, this warrants its own thread.
Symptom: The intro and main menu loads fine. However, once I press {PLAY} to start a game the loading bar gets about 2/3 across and then takes a step back to about 1/2. The loading bar wavers back and forth between these two positions indefinitely and then the computer crashes hard and reboots. The first couple of times it didn't crash my computer by itself, but rather seemed to go right into the opening cinematic and game, audibly at least, because I could hear it. But in all cases, the display never advanced past the loading screen with the loading bar continuing to waver between 1/2 and 2/3 progress. There was one poster in the Beta bugs thread who stated he experienced the same audio of the game playing but the display stuck on the loading screen and yet was able to play the game by using another computer as a secondary display. So I think there might be some similarities between the bug reported therein and this bug.

According to this thread, deleting the files in the Users folder (/Library/Application Support/Humankind/Users/) should solve this problem. It does not. But the game crashes the computer much quicker now, so at least I don't have to wait 15 minutes for that to happen.
