Potential issue with the Satrap palace's adjacencies

As you can see in the "placement details" window, placing the satrap palace between two Havens only yield +4 influence. If this is supposed to work like a commons quarter shouldn't it be +8 instead? or am I missing something?

Satrapa gives +2 influence per adjacent district so the calculation is OK in my opinion. Why it should be +8 in this case?

because the Havens count as Farmer and and Market quarters so it should provide 4 influence each. For example if I put a commons quarter at this spot it would provide 20 stability (5 for each districts)

Agreed, it's working as intended.  Most adjacency bonuses like the Satap Palace are "per adjacent district", and EQs that count as multiple "quarter types" still only count as one district.

The Commons Quarters' bonus per adjacent Farmers/Makers/Market/Research Quarter is mostly an anomaly for adjacency bonuses, heavily favouring EQs that count as multiple types like Phoenician Havens, and especially Carthaginian Cothons (and this subtly punishes cultures whose EQs are none of these, like Ottoman Sultan Camii or the various Commons EQs).

I think the only other situation where an you can stack the same bonus from an EQ that counts as multiple "quarter types" is the Swahili "Coastal Haven" Legacy Trait.  That trait provides "+10 Stability on Harbours per adjacent Regular District", where I think "regular district" is defined as one of the four FIMS quarters, and this means that building a harbour/Bandari next to a Cothon grants a +30 Stability Adjacency bonus for acting adjacent to a Farmers, Makers, and Market Quarter (as well as no longer costing -10 Stability from the Cothon or the harbour/Bandari itself).  I may be mistaken, but I think that's the only other situation where the Cothon really rules the day on quarter adjacencies.

ha ok, I see the difference; in that case only the physical district count not the "count as" districts ...

So, if that's the case, there is a minor consistency issue with how the "count as" is being used between various types of districts. (and, on a side note, consistency in a UI or a system, plays a big role in how easy it is for people to learn and remember how to use it)

all in all, I think it would make for a better UX if it was treated the same way all the time. So, basically either:

1. it's always the physical district that counts for adjacency

or

2. it's always the "count as" districts that count.

Personally I like the idea of 2 since it makes for even more interesting adjacency strategies and would make the commons quarter less of an anomaly.

anyway, thanks for the clarification :)

No problem!  Personally I'm more of a fan of 1. where it's always the physical district that counts as the anomaly and where the Commons Quarter gives +5 stability per adjacent district regardless, since that would make it more predictable at least, and also give stability when placed next to Administrative Centres/Central Plazas, which I feel they should.

Turns out I was wrong about the Swahili LT.  It might have previously "stacked" with Cothons to be overpowering, but it doesn't seem to right now.  Here's a Persian Caravanserai (Counts as Makers and Market) being placed next to a Bandari, and getting the expected "neutral" stability (-10 district, +10 from "Coastal Havens") instead of getting a net +10 if it granted +10 for it being a Makers Quarter and again for it being a Market Quarter:
