This is the first time I have ever downloaded this game, I start it up and it opens up the game but then crashes before I can do anything. I don't have any of the specified sound applications as stated in the known issues and I have verified my files multiple times so I am unsure where to go from here.

Is it an Intel based Mac or Apple Silicon? if you run it on Apple Silicon you need to mark the Humankind binary to be opened with Rosetta (then the game will start but will only work with severe graphics errors).
