I have tried it both on my external SSD (Samsung T7), and internal SSD, game load up is slightly faster on the internal SSD (likely due to a clean install without a user cache), but the map generation/map load is still slow.

I find it quite longer too to generate maps, playing through GFN.

I want to chime in to this thread and state the same thing that has been posted numerous times here.

I have ALSO noticed the extremely long loading times for both map generation and returning to a saved game.  In fact that game even takes longer to load up in general then it used to be before getting to the main menu.  I believe this started happening ever since the new expansion as before the game was quite fast starting up and loading games.  I'm not entirely sure what has changed since then and the new expansion to cause such a large increase in loading times.

I also experience and issue where my screen goes black for a LONG TIME when I exit the game until it returns to the Desktop.  I usually have to walk away while I wait for the game to fully exit.  I believe this is some sort of memory issue or perhaps it's waiting to upload to steam cloud, I don't know.  Either way it's weird just sitting there waiting for a black screen to go away.  Sometimes it takes a few minutes too.

Hey there, the programming team might have a track in order to correct this unexpected and quite annoying issue. And normally it will come with the next patch, meaning quite soon
