I just installed a new graphics card (RX 7600) from my old GTX 1660 Super, and now the menu looks like this

I have updated to the latest drivers from AMD (23.5.1.)

I have the exact same problem with the same GPU (RX7600) I also upgraded it from a RX590 recently. So far I haven't been able to find a solution, official or not, I also tried everything in the Master Fixes post in Steam Community but nothing worked. I guess it has to be some kind of incompatibility with the hardware, I tried reinstalling the latest AMD drivers (23.5.1) but that doesn't work either. So, for now I just uninstalled the game maybe until a new driver or patch comes out.

Hey, would you mind to share with us the followign things:

Diagnosticfiles: Select the correct file by looking at the name like "Diagnostics - 2020'10'11 @1407'46''" that gives you the date and hour which should correspond to a save file  These files need to be compressed as a zip or rar file or the upload will fail! Located by default:

  • PC: \Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Humankind\Temporary Files

An output log. These can be found here:

  • PC: This folder is hidden by default. You will need to reveal hidden folders (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files-0320fe58-0117-fd59-6851-9b7f9840fdb2 ) then navigate to: Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\AMPLITUDE Studios\Humankind
  • Mac: This is hidden in the Libraries folder. You will need to do an internet search to find specific steps for your OS. Once the libraries folder is revealed, they are in user/library/logs/amplitude studios/humankind

Information about the system you are playing on. To get this information:

  • PC: From the Windows desktop, press the Windows and R keys to open the Run window. In the Open: field of the Run window, type dxdiag. Click OK or the Enter key to open the DirectX* Diagnostic Tool. o Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203001

Hello!

Thank you very much for your files, they have been send to be investigated.

To help us pin-point the root of this issue, could you try to activate the V-sync or the Frame rate limiter? Since you don't have access to in-game menu, it'll require to follow those steps:

- Go in your use folder located in \Users\Username\Documents\Humankind\Users\User ID (User ID will look like 0x0110000100t269bt)

- Open the file "Registry.xml" with notepad

- Edit the value in <VSyncCount> from 0 to 1

-Save the change

- Launch the game to see if it helps

If it doesn't:

- Quit the game.

- Reopen the file "Registry.xml" with notepad

- Edit the value in <VSyncCount> from 1 to 0

- Set the value in <MaxFrameRate> to 60

Thank you very much for helping us investigating the issue and sorry for the inconvenience.

I couldn't see any options like those listed, so I added them to the first "Display" section, but that had no effect on the issue.

As far as I recall, VSync and Max Framerate cannot be active at the same time, so if you tried adding both, you might have more success by trying to add only one at a time.

I added the values, one at a time and finally both together. Still not working, but I am seeing that I am having the same exact problems as phoenixemperor1. I will stop sending more posts to not bother you with the same problem. Thanks for your help!

Hello

I tried both things you suggested, one-by-one then both at the same time, with different combinations, none solved the problem.

Also, I used the opportunity to try using several resolutions (1920x1080, 1366x768, & 1024x768), framerates (75, 60, 30), Display Modes  (FullscreeenWindow, Window), turning ON/OFF Steam Interface.

I also tried changing my monitor settings to different resolutions and framerates to pair up with the settings above. I tried every combination I could think of but saldy nothing worked.

Btw, I'm not sure if this is important or not, but the Resolution setting in the Registry file showed this value by default 1920x1080 (0) I guess the 0 is the framerate as I've seen on other games, if I change it to something random it would just rollback to 0 but if a set it to a standard framerate it will stay like that.

Next thing I will try is to run the game from a diferent client (Microsoft Store) to see if for some strange reason it works from there.

Thank you for your work and attention to the report.

Similiar here, BUT: I run an AMD 7900XTX and installed the game 2 weeks ago with the Adrenalin 23.5.2 driver on my system. Everything worked fine. But as soon as I update it to the latest 23.7.1 driver, I get the blank menu screen as well. When I go back to the old driver, it runs fine. I tried it two times, installing back and forth. Everytime same result.

Note: Also the short loading screen between the game intro and the home menu will NOT show up when I install the 23.7.1 driver. Just tried again and reinstalled the old driver, no issues then.

Hello, any updates on this?
We have just tried to play the newly purchased game, my friend has AMD Radeon RX 7600. The latest drivers, no mods, tried all the above. When they launch the game there is no visible UI. We tried making him "join MP match" by clicking the invisible UI button to get ready - which worked, however, once the game started they had a blank screen and weren't able to play.

Can we be advised how to fix this please?

Update: we fixed it!

we downloaded this: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk (it forcefully converts direct x to vulcan)

and copied the files to the game directory (next to .exe)

now all works well

We are checking on our side to see how we can fix it.
Already, shared with the team your solution (but if not mistaken we have implemented already a convert to vulcan, or something similar, so perhaps something is happening that prevent to trigger)

Same issue here with 7900 xtx

We have a potential workaround, or at least this have worked for most people. 2 options to try

  • Go to your Steam Library > Right click on HK > Properties > General > Write on Launch Options "-force-vulkan

  • Locate your HK icon > Right Click > Properties > Go to the shortcut tab > Go to the Target line and write the following at the end " -force-vulkan"

Let us know if this fix it. As we are still working on a solution

It seems the provided workaround worked just fine, I can see the UI once again. So far, haven't noted any error on it. I will keep playing to see if I can spot any other bug.

Thank you so much to all the team, for the attention so far.

I recently built a new computer with an AMD Radeon RX 7600. I had the same issue as described.

The workaround with adding -force-vulkan in the starting options worked fine for me, thanks.

Hope that there will be a patch for DirectX, though.
