I may have missed another thread, in which case delete this/roll it into the other one, but I was wondering if there’s crossplay between consoles? I’ve seen many threads about Xbox and pc, but nothing that I’ve seen about Xbox and ps4/5 being cross platform compatible, and my roommate and I were wondering if we can play together.

Unfortunately, not between different consoles. Crossplay is only possible between different generations of the same console (e.g. between PS4 and PS5)

That's super disappointing because when I Google it claims to be cross-platform. Is there any plans for ps/xbox crossplay in the future? My friend and I got it specifically to play together because we can't on Civ.
