game ideas - influence & stability overhaul
the game designers of HK clearly wanted to make their game different from the civ series of 4x games and the way they have done this is by the use of influence (culture in civ series) and city stability. unfortunately I think they have gone too far and the game is potentially a tedious chore of continually modifying influence and city stability at the expense of any other strategy


the current system of civic osmosis by the threat of minus 50 stability is over the top and snowballs empires with more influence into damaging adjacent empires by overriding their civics picks or risking war due to grievances/demands. there needs to be a game switch to turn on/off civics osmosis

An option to turn it off when creating a game is a good idea. However in my experience - 50 stability isn't all that bad and without a heavy penalty you would never accept someone elses civic choices. I think what's needed here is better way of telegraphing to the player how to counter act foreign influence and better balancing for influence cultures.
