I was thinking how it could add narrative flavour if each culture had a (semi-) unique fame collection quest. Quest is probably too big of a word for it, but really just some condition that isn't available to other cultures and models what those cultures were known for.

For instance, Rome could have "have the most number of territories/most population". Spain could have "conquer X independent cities". Egypt could have something related to wonders, etc. The quests could have a bit of flavour text when issued and when failed or completed, to round out the experience.


This is inspired by both Endless Legend's faction quests, which added some neat RPG flavour for a 4X game, but also the Civ IV mod Rhye's and Fall of Civilizations, which had 3 unique win conditions for each civilization. (and could offer some ideas for emblematic quests.)


I appreciate this sort-of overlaps with the fame star bonus that a culture gets for meeting the stars of its affinity. But this could be more specific and with more narrative to help with immersion. It's ultimately a nice-to-have but those are also ... nice to have :)
