I am posting this to express better an idea that I tried explaining better in previous threads.

Currently Train Station and Airport are decent districts which are really good for logistic value but surely (in yield term) not as impactful as they actually were in our world's history, so I'll be proposing a rework for both districts:


Train Station

  • +1 Pollution per Coal on Empire
  • +1 Industry per Coal on Empire
  • -10 Stability
  • +5 Industry per adjacent Makers Quarter  
  • Generates rails towards neighboring Train Stations (Rails allow to travel instantly from one Train Station to another at the cost of 1 Movement Point)
  • Can be built once per Territory.
  • +1 YieldType from every YieldSpecialist in bordering cities connected through railway (but the game should divide the YieldSpecialists among the territories; if you have a city "A" connected to a city "B", which has 20 pop in total with 5 YieldSpecialist for each of the 4 YieldType, in the territory "b" where there's not the Main Plaza but an Administrative Centre and 3 Farmers Quarter providing in total 3 Farmers Slots, "A" will just gain 3 Food from "B" since in "b" there are just 3 Farmers; if "A" will be connected to all the territories of "B", in addition to the 3 Food it will also obtain 2 Food, 5 Production, 5 Gold and 5 Science)
  • (maybe) it should lower the price of the part of a land Trade Route when passing on a railway 


Airport

  • +1 Pollution per Oil on Empire
  • +1 Pollution per Air-Trade Route on district
  • -10 Stability
  • +5 Money per adjacent Market Quarter  
  • Allows to travel instantly from one Airport to another at the cost of 1 Movement Point
  • Can be built once per Territory.
  • +1 YieldType from every YieldSpecialist in other empire's/IP's cities with an airport and an ongoing Air-Trade Route (the game should still divide the YieldSpecialists among the territories but it does like counts all the territories in like a 3 territories range of the airport if connected trough railways otherwise it should just count only the territory where the Airport was built; it should also count the YieldSpecialists of the territories in range that are not of the same city where the airport was built in)

Support, the logistical benefits of railroads and airports are not limited to transporting military personnel, but mainly to commercial and supply gains, allowing the transport of goods that would otherwise be impractical.

Not sure about all those bonuses, but some profit from connected cities sounds really good. I mean, to connect them you have to build 2-3 train stations in EACH city, and this have to be somehow rewarded (maybe some additional adjacency production bonus on train station for length of railroad)  . Moreover, it will be rather cool if we could buy train stations in outposts, as it will help to connect far cities more easily. Also, railroads shall be more visible.
In recent game have built airports, they are really cool, and transportation between them is very intuitive, but some additional bonus would be really cool. (Fun fact that you can “radar” all airports on the map, but I consider it as feature)

just watched video about the late game of humankind overview on release on official humankind channel, and there it is said that railroads make tradelinks cheaper, but I haven’t found any forum, or information in wiki about this feature, so not sure if it is implied

I agree in general that Rail and Airports should have much bigger impact on the economy. I actually hope they will implement this with a trade & resources rework, along with Harbors becoming more interesting (Or synergies between the three).
