What is the general rule on G2G regarding thread necromancy?

I am a member on quite a few different forums around the web, and they almost always have some form of rule against thread necromancy, either formal or just community enforced. Having spent some time around the G2G forums now, I have noticed that very old threads (1+ years) sometimes end up being resurrected without much fanfare or notice expect maybe a short "sorry for the necro" or the like.

I know the forums have a rule against bumping threads, but I cannot find anything regarding what the rules and etiquette is for reviving old threads. It seems to me people can just post in an old thread if they feel they have something relevant to add. Is this the consensus, or am I missing a rule somewhere?

Thank you for the clarification.

As far as I am aware is there no form of rule against it.
Just don't overdo it so they will have to add a rule and it should be fine.

As a former moderator, I can tell you that there's no real rule on necromancy, but that you'll be suspected of being a bot if you do it too often (though the bots usually spam commercial links in 2+ year old posts, so as long as you don't do that, you're fine)

Thank you for your answers, both of you!

That clears up a bit of confusion for me regarding the culture and norms on these forums. I was a bit surprised I couldn't find someone else asking about it before, but I suppose I still need to learn how to use the search function on these forums a bit better.

As long as we don't give them a reason to add a rule it should be fine XD
