Running the game on Windows. It used to get stuck on world generation. Using the -useshellexecute in Steam properties fixed it for me.

I'm guessing the underlying cause had something to do with the way EndlessLegend spawns the Amplitude.Generator.exe. The Generator would show up in task manager and load 40megs worth of data but then get stuck there. Closing EndlessLegend allowed the generator to proceed. It peaked at 200 megs of memory usage and generated the output zip. To me it seemed like EndlessLegend was holding up the Generator.exe. Unflushed buffers or something?

In any case, UseShellExecute, which effectively limits the interaction between the host process and the new process, fixed the issue for me.

I'm using Windows 8.1 and this fix doesn't work for me. Thanks for your suggestion anyways.

To go with my post 2 or 3 back:

DxDiag.txt

I tried the -useshellexecute option, and everything else I've read in the forums.

@morbid_desire

Can't access your files on Dropbox, the file paths (.../) have been cut down somewhere.

@teeo

As Saylawl and AmpliMath and I have mentioned before, we need the files: output_log.txt and diagnostics*.html files.

DxDiag contains relevant information on your system, but not the nature of the problem.

@BuckRogersJr

I sent you an email (@yahoo.com) on Monday, with a couple of things to try on your computer; didn't get a response to the 3 proposed steps.

Hello Eric,

Sorry for the late reply to your email because my yahoo email is used primarily for gaming purposes and so I don't check it frequently. In fact, I'm happy to tell you that your 3rd solution has successfully resolved the crash issue for me, and I'm now able to create new games and launch the tutorial in the game. smiley: smile

I've sent an email to you attached with 3 output_log files and 3 diagnostics files that might help your team fix this annoying bug more effectively. I'm very confident that you guys can resolve the crash issue for other players as well.

Thank you very much for your debugging effort!

Hello Saylawl,

The solutions which I mentioned were provided to me via email by Eric for testing purpose (and so they're not detailed in this thread for now). Fortunately, one of them (i.e., the 3rd solution) works and I can now enjoy the game smiley: smile However, I think Eric might tweak the fix before releasing it to the public. To help Eric and his team debug more effectively, I sent him related output_log files and diagnostics files already. I hope more players will be able to enjoy this game with the upcoming workarounds.

Thanks again for following up on my case. I really appreciate your studio's emphasis on communication with the players.

Eric, BuckRogersJr,

Can I know what work around you used to get it to work. It seems that Buck and I have had similar issues and I have not received any feedback on how to correct the error other than try what was already said many times over.(despite posting in this thread, creating my own, and emailing amplitude. all with the appropriate files)

Thanks

Hey scmblack,

According to Eric's diagnosis of my data files, my crash issue was related to the default codepage used by my system that prevented the game from writing zip achives. Eric provided me with 3 different solutions for testing purpose and, fortunately, one of them has worked. The successful solution replaces the executable Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe with a custom version in the WorldGenerator folder. I think Eric's technical team might tweak the solutions and the required custom files a bit before releasing them to the public.

In fact, it seems that there're many different causes behind this crash issue (.NET framework, AV software, codepage, etc.). I hope the upcoming workarounds will help you and other players resolve this annoying bug.

I've done everything listed, downloaded all 3 archives, installed the framework, tried the steam command line prompt, enabled windows 7 compatibility, run in 32/64 bit modes, still having the exact same problem when attempting to run the tutorial or start a new game.

I have the same world generation error.

NotImplementedException: The game creation process has failed.

GameClientState_LaunchGame.GameService_CreateGameComplete (System.Object sender, Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Unity.Game.GameManager.OnCreateGameComplete (Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

V1.0.32 S3 (64-bit)

Also tested it on 32 Bit and with selecting everyone.

Also tested the fixes you listed on post 1.

I started having the Issue with the appearance of the greyed out Mezari .. of course that could be a co incident.

System is AMD Bulldozer / AMD HD7850 2GB DDR5 / 16 GB DDR3

On Windows 7 64 Bit.

I can play the game without problem when I load old saves.

Thank you very much.

Note that there is a sticky thread (this one) which is up to date and might list more workarounds.

If it still does not work, could you please provide us the following files? Do not forget to .zip the files.

  • [PC] [Steaminstalldir]/Steamapps/Common/Endless Legend/EndlessLegend_Data/output_log.txt
  • [MAC] via the OSX Console - /Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Diagnostics.html

  • [PC] [Documentsdir]/Endless Legend/Temporary Files/Diagnostics*.html
  • [MAC] Diagnostics.*.html - Library/Application Support/EndlessLegend/Temporary Files/

Thank you.
