For those who have not done so already :

Download the archive Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "Amplitude.WorldGenerator.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

@All users

Download the archive EndlessLegend.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "EndlessLegend.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend" alongside the game executable.

@All users

2) Download the archive WorldGenerator.zip, uncompress and overwrite all the files in the folder " … Stem/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

These are new assemblies compiled with the .Net Framework 4.0.

I tried out the above 3 workarounds in admin mode (with compatibility mode set for Windows 7) for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the game, but crashes still happened at world generation. However, I haven't downloaded .Net Framework 3.5.1 because I'm not sure how this change will affect my OS (Win 8.1) and other programs. I'd rather wait for more feedbacks from other players before trying out this workaround.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for the post. I did the following changes and the game works:

1. Download the archive EndlessLegend.exe.manifest.zip, uncompress and place the file "EndlessLegend.exe.manifest" inside the folder "... Steam/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend" alongside the game executable.

2. Download the archive WorldGenerator.zip, uncompress and overwrite all the files in the folder " … Stem/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

These are new assemblies compiled with the .Net Framework 4.0.

Thank you for the support.

Hello and thank you Eric. I shall second this too.

Endless Legend always worked for me during early access right until the game went 1.0. With these new workarounds, I 've been able to play again. smiley: stickouttongue

Thank you for the support.

Hello Saylawl and Eric,

I'd like to tell you guys that *all* workarounds don't work for me. I'm not sure whether it's because I'm using Windows 8.1. Anyways, let me delineate the issues in the following:

1. First, I tried out the following workarounds but all of them failed (I launched the game in admin mode with compatibility mode set for Windows 7):

@All users

2) Download the archive WorldGenerator.zip, uncompress and overwrite all the files in the folder " … Stem/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

These are new assemblies compiled with the .Net Framework 4.0.

2. Afterwards, I downloaded and installed .Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) from Microsoft:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ils.aspx?id=22

Then, I followed the instructions on how to enable .Net Framework on Windows 8/8.1 provided by the Microsoft Developer Network:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...sectionToggle0

My current .Net Framework settings are shown in the following:

I launched the game again in admin mode with compatibility mode set for Windows 7, but I still couldn't start any tutorial or new game. I also tried to start a new game in admin mode *without* enabling compatibility mode for Windows 7, but the crash still happened.

3. I've sent an email attached with my latest diagnostics files (html), output log file and the registry to contact@amplitude-studios.com (mail subject is "Endless Legend: updates for crash issue at world generation").

Thanks a lot for your debugging effort and assistance.

scmblack, have you tried the following workarounds suggested by Eric? And are you using Windows 8.1?

Hello,

Here're some things for you guys:

@All disgruntled users

I understand your frustration, but we cannot fix problems without any kind of information.

Please follow the instructions from this post (Reporting-An-Issue) to share - at the very least - the output_log.txt file along with all available Diagnostics (html) files.

@OSX users

Some users managed to get things working by manually installing/upgrading the Mono Framework on their computer (it’s the thing that executes .Net programs on OSX systems).

Here’s the procedure :

- In the Steam client, in the game libraries tab, right-click (or MAC equivalent) on “Endless Legend” to open the game Properties,

- Click on the “Local Files” tab,

- Select “Browse local files”,

- In the Finder window you should see some files related to the “Endless Legend” game, somewhere under “Libraries/Application Support/Endless Legend” or something.

- The folder should contain a package file “MonoFramework-MRE-3.4.0.macos10.xamarin.x86.pkg” (this package – or more recent version – is required to execute Windows .Net executables on OSX)

- Install the package

@All users

Some of you have mentioned that the world generation did work during early access and stopped working since release.

Well, we have changed the version of the .Net Framework for the release, it’s definitely a cause of concern.

There are two things you can try :

(either of the two solutions might help fixing your issue(s) so don't try both at the same time or else we won't know which one might do)

1) Install the .Net Framework 3.5.1 on your computer,

(download from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/downl...ils.aspx?id=22)

2) Download the archive WorldGenerator.zip, uncompress and overwrite all the files in the folder " … Stem/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/Public/WorldGenerator".

These are new assemblies compiled with the .Net Framework 4.0.

I hope we'll get there eventually.

Keep us informed on your progress, whether it worked (and which operation did fix your problem) or if you're still out of the game...

I just *reinstalled* the game via Steam and tried out all the workarounds provided by Eric. I still couldn't start any new game or tutorial.

I see. Then I think the issue might still be affecting Windows 8 and 8.1 users. Good to know that I'm not the only one still having the crash issue LOL.

The second suggestion solved it for me and i hadn't even tried the first. I do have Windows 7 though and the Microsoft website seemed to say .Net Framework was for Vista and XP so???

Thanks for the help!

It seems the workarounds are effective on the Windows 7 platform but not on Windows 8/8.1. Wish I could enjoy EL over the weekend.

This fixed my issue of the newly created worlds always being the same.

Note: I already had .net 4.5.1 installed.

Starting tutorial simply brings me back to main menu, and starting new game produces the following error:

NotImplementedException: The game creation process has failed.

GameClientState_LaunchGame.GameService_CreateGameC omplete (System.Object sender, Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Coroutine+c__Iterator94.M oveNext ()

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.0.2 S3 (32-bit)

Tried switching to 32-bit, verifying game cache, running as administrator, unchecking read only, setting compatibility with win7, turning off firewall, using the manifest file.
