Yup, coop would be fun, it's easier to assimilate others into this kind of game if its more coop and not adversarial. Wife wants to play but wants something coop instead. Be open to paying for a coop expansion.

First post. I was looking to buy this game closer to Christmas with a group of friends, but if there really is no in-game way of playing with teams, that is a huge problem with multiplayer.

Could someone elaborate little on the in-game politics:

1. Could we just announce peace/alliance with each other after the game starts? Would the AI's then battle all of us? But surely they would battle each other too? (Do they battle each other? Is there any way to get around?)

2. So there is no way to win as a team? There has to be a singular winner for a match?

This is a sizeable problem, please help.

Do you really need the game to formally declare you as a team to play coop?

When we play Civ we can set up teams to make the game appropriately difficult and thus enjoyable. We can do 2v2, 2v2v2v2, 3v3 etc. Without the ability to formally define teams it's much harder to enjoy the experience.

Not to mention we had a game where we had collectively eliminated every enemy from the map but it wouldn't give either of us a win so we had to spam end turn to "finish" the game until one of us got a victory point win.

A suggestion would be: Making the game recognize that an alliance of players are the only remaining factions.

IF this is the case, give a messagebox to everyone asking: "Your alliance is made up of the only remaining factions. Do you wish to declare victory?"

Someone can always decline. This could be asked every 10 turns or so to not have it spam on every turn. Then there can still be gameplay to backstab the alliance.

I think this is a very good idea if possible. Preset teams is also a very good idea imho, as it can increase the challenge level without giving the AI crazy bonuses. Every game I ever played of Endless Legend was a multiplayer "co-op" game. Either or both of these options would increase the game's enjoyment of me immensely. It would also make it so that some achievements are realistically attainable for us, as the way it is set up now the game usually ends with us looking at each other and saying "well, there is no AI left. We win? Yeah. Let's start a new one...". Not nearly as fun and extremely anti-climactic. ES had the same issue and honestly we would have played it even more if there was some sort of team victory.

well it's good like it is caus' in this game the mechanics are so that you invest influence points and research to actually form alliances... the ability to pre-set it would unbalance the game....

please..for goodness sake leave the diplomacy system like it is. i often play co-op with my friend.. to decide so is my choice IN GAME and it's fine..

You aren't the only one hoping for team MP options. It would be great to play 3v3 or 4v4 on 2 continents.

I absolutely underwrite coop options. It's the sole reason Civ V is the most played game in my Steam ranking - we have been playing the heck out of the coop mode (a friend of mine).

I'm not sure about EL, but the AI always has crazy bonuses in Civ5. The AI, at whatever skill level, uses happiness bonuses in Civ5.

Yes, it says "Prince" is equal in the tooltips, but it's not. The AI has equivalent happiness and bonuses to the "chieftain" level.

I'm not complaining about the difficulty - I think I've played one game at Prince level in Civ5, and that was my first. They just lie about how good the AI is.

Yeah, I've been wanting this too. I asked for it in another thread a while ago, seems like it didn't make it in.

I didn't buy the game due to its lacking. Hopefully they address it, so I can buy the game. smiley: smile

Yup, just recognizing victory conditions for both players simultaneously would be nice and enough IMO.

I picked this up over the weekend with a friend. I'm really enjoying the game I think they did a great job taking the usual 4x game and removing a lot of the "busy work" feel and replacing it with really compelling interesting choices. I have only 1 major problem with the game so far and that is I can't figure out how to play the game coop with friends. We did a multiplayer game but we were unable to do any sort of coop victory or to set up teams within the game such that we could effectively play together.

Is there a way to play the game coop or is the standard multiplayer ffa the only method available?

I think this slightly misses the point. It would be nice for friends to be able to "form a team" in order to achieve victory together by allying as one group/color in the lobby. This doesn't need to be a mandatory requirement in multiplayer, nor do I think it would be particularly fun to manipulate the mechanics by forming a team and then playing a couple individual enemy factions (unless they were set at a harder difficulty). Most people would probably form a team with a friend in the lobby, then form up the enemy factions into team groups to add a level of challenge. The influence points and techs would still be very important in a game like this, both to interact with enemy factions and to engage in diplomacy "within the team."

It wouldn't, of course, "unbalance" the game in most cases, and you always have the option not to form a team before you start a multiplayer game.

Personally, this would be an element to the game that takes it to the next level. If I could preset teams with my friends before the start of a game and then share victory with them, it would make this a really viable coop experience. And maybe if they added a few larger maps, with maybe 12...or 16 factions at once.

Hi, I came across this game in Steam and was wondering about coop also. My son and I have played multiplayer coop for as long as we can remember, especially with random maps. HOMM, Civ and recently AOW all meet these requirements. Whether it's an in-game alliance or a pregame option, please consider adding this and I believe the enhancement will add to your following.

To form team when creating the game is an obvious need (with shared vision, cost of tech increased etc., as in Civ IV).

Most strongs players of Civ IV played on Teamers 3V3 games, it was really different and more sweet to play in team than to play alone, as a wolf, on a FFA.

This must be included in Endless Legend.

The only two disappointments in this game:

1 - no XvXvX setup. I'd love to play in teams against teams.

2 - Even when allied, you can't fight a battle together. I have to attack while the armies of my ally are standing right beside us and have to wait for their turn.

Teamers would be great. Inland Sea map, with 3 players vs 3 players. It would increase the interest of Multiplayer.

Teams would be great. My friends and I have been playing co-op against the AI and it feels a bit wrong to be cooperating against them when the AI doesn't cooperate with itself.

Yeah that too. tried to convince them to implement this way back when the game was announced but it never happened.
