Has there been any sort of official response on this missing feature? It's such an odd thing to leave out that it seems like a bug. The ability to XvY is such a common feature in 4x games that I didn't expect it to be missing. I purchased this with 4 friends a few minutes ago only to realize that the one thing we really wanted to do (alliance victory in a 4x game) wasn't even an option. So we spent over $130 to get something that doesn't actually meet our need.

I recommended Endless Legend to a couple of my friends. They always play together though, and the lack of a formal co-op was actually their deciding factor not to get it. Any chance to see it in a DLC or expansion?

Registered just to say this: I would love co-op multiplayer. I don't care how it's implemented, but I would like to be able to meaningfully play in a 2vSomeCPUs setup. Shared vision and shared combat. I'd pay for this as DLC if it helps. My wife and I play co-op strategy games all the time, this is why we always go back to Civ. But a fantasty-style game is more up her alley, and Endless Legends looks pretty nice.

Just want to add my two cents... I would love true coop multiplayer, or at the very least let an allied victory be possible and have a decision box pop up when all AI's are dead saying it will end as a team victory unless you break the alliance right then.

Regards,

Kulia

I am hoping a co-op multiplayer/team games happens. The critical shift would be the management of science. Either the Civ route of shared tech, or the age of wonders route of no exchange are viable. (the other issue would be kill this city quests)

Yes it doesn't match the lore. But, playing Age of Wonders or Civ:BE so I can win with my friends/nephews etc, > making the solo quests make sense.

You just run an informal alliance or research the tech for it. You can even use a custom race and select to start with the research to obtain peace status at least I think. Tbh I think supremacy victory for an alliance should be recognized as well as diplomacy but the other victories such as science or wonder clearly are about your nation achieving that, not your alliance. but it's like when america says "we built some badass wonder or tech" your allies aren't defeated you just go "cool you got some science victory good for us too yay" or whatever.

It's a change I would welcome, though I can understand the difficulty. Balance is affected a great deal when formal teams are set up. I don't think it would be as simple as just adding an option in the new game lobby. Amplitude would need to consider how to balance scores for a score victory, how to parcel out expansion victories, how to limit diplomatic point farming, whether all players on a team need a wonder for a wonder victory, management of values like science, approval, etc...

Basically it's not a simple matter to add teams in multiplayer. That said, it's an addition I would dearly love to see. Does anyone know if the idea has gone through G2G at all? Or if it's too big for that?

Just registered to post that the only thing stopping three of us purchasing a copy of Endless Legend is the lack of a multiplayer team option. Until that's an option we won't be buying; which is a shame because it looks like a great game. Informal alliances are no good because that doesn't allow us to play against a team of AI, just individuals.

I was confused when I realized that, after playing the game extensively in single player, there was no multiplayer co-op.

For those who say "Just make an alliance and pretend you're doing it" there are large gameplay-based issues with that primarily centered around how the AI will fight against each other instead of combining to deal with your alliance.

Co-Op Multiplayer against AI(or other players!) has become so commonplace in games of this genre that it almost feels like Endless Legend is crippling itself in regards to sales potential.

It took me a long time to come around to buying EL and I didn't even consider the possibility that this feature wouldn't be part of the game until after I got a second copy so the wife could play too. Oops. We were both pretty disappointed.

Hi there,

Here is quote from SpaceTroll (Creative Director)
Will we see 3 versus 3 or X versus X in the game? - If we add teams, it's like force alliance. It would be more for a complete addon. It's not something simple that we can do right now!

Best news I've heard all week, my wife would love both ES and EL, but she is not going to play them if we can't play on a team together.

Here's hoping, me and a friend have completely stopped playing because we only want to play cooperatively. The recent addon has not done much to reignite our interest which is a shame, EL is a great game.

Answering just to bump and show there is interest. Me and my friends would play the hell out of both ES and EL with coop. I doesn't even have to be a forced team setup - just a victory condition that triggers when your allies win, and extending the extermination condition to your alliance.

Same feelings as previous posts as far as the new DLC goes - cute/fun, but it's not what will bring me back to solo play of EL.

I'd definitely pick up a second copy if there was full co-op/team support, even if it didn't include combined/reinforcing armies across players.
