I personally havn't experienced lag in the main screen, but I can confirm that something funky is going on with the FOW.

I am also experiencing the entire map revealing on turn 1. I am running Endless Legend latest patch on steam (1.3), on Windows 7 64-bit, all expansions and DLC installed except for Mezari, including the new Echoes of Auriga and The Lost Tales DLC and the Frozen Fangs content from Emperor Edition. Here's a savefile.

I'm surprised there arent more people with the Fog of War issue. Must not happen to everyone then...

I'm running on a windows 7 64 bit with all dlcs, game cache validated. I'm not sure what good a save file will do since the map gets revealed at the very beginning of the game.

To be clear, the fog IS there when the game starts up, but then rapidly retreats around the starting army, expanding throughout the entire map...

Yep, we are trying to understand what's happened here. We are not able to reproduce the issue on our own computers. It will be great and helpful if you can provide us the specs of your computer and the output_log.txt file generated by Endless Legend.

Here is the output_log.txt

And here's an additional picture that kindof gives a better idea for what's going on. It looks like the fog of war has been replaced with the effect for land outside the player's vision and the land outside the player's vision appears as though it's within the vision range even though it isn't. Notice the minor faction village to the right: It's in the light but I cant see the units stationed there.

here's my System Info.rar

Hope this helps, let me know if you guys need more information. ^_^

Also, I tried running the game in 32 bit mode, fiddling around with video settings and compatibility modes and tried uninstalling/re-installing, didn't help.

I thought maybe something or other got jacked up in the endless legend folder in the documents folder, so I deleted it and started up the game to create a new one. No change, fog of was still dissapears at the start of the game...

Having the same problem here. Both the laggy main menu (but only when the Drakken one comes up) and no cloudy fog of war. Just shaded but I can see everything from the start.

Same problem here, laggy main menu (only with Drakken and Wild Walker backgrounds), strange full visibility from the start of the game.

Both the Guardians and the Shadows expansions are installed, besides the vanilla game, of course. Not using any mods or cheats. Basically just downloaded the patch and booted up a new game to try it out, with the following result:

1) The slowdown/lag of the main screen is as if it (program/game) would have been more demanding processing-wise on the computer or, in an other analogy, your computer would have been less slightly apt to run the program/game. It is not a major decrease, but you can notice it. The slowdown doesn't seem to persist in-game, main screen only. I actually noticed that some backgrounds don't cause any lag while others do, as well. The Wild Walkers and Drakken backgrounds do seem to be coincide with the matter, while I've noticed that the Ardent Mages didn't.

2) The fog of war vanishing issue is a following: whichever race you choose to play (I've tried Mezari, Ardent Mages, Necrophages -- so, admittedly I've not tried all, but a trend persists), the fog of war, hiding terrain from you, vanishes. You can see the whole map (plus yields, if such an option is turned on) and the locations of all the AIs of the game, but they are "uncontacted" (unless they are Draken, that contact you automatically at the beginning of the game as per usual).

Loading up a saved game from before the recent patch of 1.3.0 does carry on the dissolution of the fog of war, revealing the whole map.

Herein are attached a game save file (turn 1) of the game with the patch 1.3.0, when the issue appears. The output log in .txt, Diagnostics in .zip, Registry in .zip (couldn't upload in .xml, so...), plus the screenshots of the issue.

Thanks you in advance for checking out the issue!

Respectfully,

Zloy

EDIT (22/12/2015):

The latest patch (1.3.5) completely solved the problems -- the fog of war is as supposed to be and no lag on the main screen. So assume that it in fact was related to having an Intel graphics card (I think I did state that I had one either directly or via one of the attached files' data (if not, deep deep apologies)).

A thousand thanks to the Amplitude team for the fix!

Uh oh, flood gates are opening.

Is there anything further we can do on our part to help diagnose the problem?

I'm not really playing the game because of the FOW problem, so I'm eager to help however I can.

SO. I have shadows, but I don't have the Guardians expansion Anyway I went on after installing Forges Of Creation and tried to start a game. I was using my customized version of the Forgotten. The game started fine but upon zooming out I found I could see the entire map. the LOS was still darkened where my units weren't but the whole map was explored like no fog of war and I could see everyone's starting positions.

I was dismayed as I like exploring so I re tried only to have the same thing happen. I restarted the game and it still happened I waited a day and tried again same thing. I checked the menu there is no way I could find to toggle fog of war did I accidently find a cheat or is it a glitch with the new content?

A quote from here: /#/endless-legend/forum/6-game-design/thread/3546-issues-with-forges

Maybe that will help.

I tried playing the game again. This time I disabled ALL DLC through steam and played with just the base game.

The FOW issue still happened, unfortunately.

But I DID manage to get this screen capture right when te game started up

I'm not sure exactly what's being rendered with the fog in the middle, but maybe this can help? The inner fog begins at the edge of my natural sight line and retreats inwards towards the middle.

The outer fog just rapidly retreats outward til the entire map is visible

Here's the output_log.txt for this particular game. I moved around a little bit after taking this shot and had the same effect as shown in the previous picture.

Hope this can help.

Thanks for the extra information HappyHead.

We are still investigating on the issue.

@Fenris9, Quiet, Yads88: If you could post all the required files including output.log it will be of a great help (because we are still unable to reproduce on our side and it is difficult to track unless making some deductions through comparison of your computer configurations first).

Thanks a lot!

Experiencing the same issues here.

Laggy Welcome Screens: confirmed Wild Walkers and Drakken only. Effects whole machine even when tabbed out to other programs but does not show any appreciable impact on resources in task manager. Does disappear when entering a game.

Fog of War: Inconsistent behavior. Visibility of resources, minor factions and anomalies that should be under fog is inconsistent, changing range and level of detail between games. Not consistent in all directions either; for example I might be able to see more detail on the right than on the left of my starting position. However, do always see the AI players city tiles in their colours.

Enabling/disabling DLC didn't effect the issues for me. Nor did playing with every video setting I could find!

Spec and Output Log attached.

Good luck! smiley: smile

Hi, everyone: It is very important that you provide your computer specifications: there may be some issues between your video adapters and the engine, aggravated by some game specifics.

I would also recommend that you test you video adapters... I've got some issues that simply didn't appear on day-to-day operations: only when playing some games, and it was due to a falty video adapter. This just to make sure that the issue is really in the game...

I don't see the issue with my machine, I've seen some laggy refreshes before (not something so grave as you are reporting) but surprisingly this issue seems to be fixed for me in this patch. I've seen some specs that use the Intel graphics driver that comes with the motherboard: in my case, I use a separated nvidia driver.
