AOW3 was so disappointing for me... the only thing i loved was the character editor (and the super informative tooltips).



- Diplomacy was terrible.

- All the races felt the same. And the fact that you can recruit heroes and units from other races made this even more painful.

- The game was a tier 3/4 spam right from the start... the new patches fixed the pace of the game, but for me it's still no fun.

- Mountain climbing with all kind of units made choke points and other strategies totally useless.

- I hated the fact that damaged units did the same damage as if they were full health, this was very counterintuitive... too bad this is an issue for me on EL too.



So, i really hope EL will be much better.

MOREOVER, when my friend asked for a Fantasy 4X, I told him about AOW3 and EL (Warlock and Fallen Enchantress are... at the bot of the fantasy 4X ^^) , its why a started a poll, I thought that was interresting to see what you would have answered...

Hmm, Fallen Enchantress with the Legendary Heroes expansion belongs to be nowhere near the bottom of the list. To suggest so is either a result of your ignorance or outright trolling.

Also, I would love to see the RPG elements added in an expansion later, with expanded hero customization and deeper development. Much like Legendary Heroes.



Hell, I'm really hoping you guys expand this one a couple times, as there is just so much you can do with the EL foundation you're laying here.

I love Warlock, I bought all the DLCs and FE is fine too but the poll is between AOW3 and EL, point on the line, stop trolling me damn ^^

Interesting... I own all 4 games. No one game will scratch all itches. I like aspects from each game, and wish there was a way to have everything I want in one place. I think EL has the potential to be that. The closest so far though is FE:LH. Why hasn't anyone mentioned Eador:MotBW?

Endless Legend I fully expect to be heavily moddable. With the quest system I think EL could have some very strong scenario mods in which you roleplay a lot more than most 4X's. Heck, I hope we can make some custom factions with their own quest lines and everything (not for multiplayer ofcourse). For now EL is going to be a very competent 4X game, but I can easily see it becoming a better roleplaying game than heroes of might and magic, and honestly the only reason why I would recommend AoW 3 is because I call it heroes 7.

Madness??? This is Spar- the EL forum so of course at least 80% of the people will say El. It is like asking who do you like better: Kim Jong Il or Barrack Obama in the US or North Korea. They are going to be polar opposites. Plus I have never played AoW so I won't vote.

As stated before: All the games are good in their own way. But if I had to choose I would would choose EL.



I really like the looks of EL and the setting is way more thought through than the typical elf vs. orc vs. dwarf vs. human scenario that AoW3 uses.

What kind of game does he like ? And I would recommand or EL or Warlock or FE:LH or AoW3. If he likes fantasy 4X he shouldn't ignore FE and Warlock.

You're right ! Eador has a very strong roleplaying part, even better than FE. And the shard system is very interesting, even if it adds a lot of repetitiveness. but the last patch added some interesting tweaks and content to avoid that.

What baffles me is that I spent nearly as much time on Eador than the combined time of all other games -__- and I didin't think of it. Maybe it's more an RPG for me than a strategy game (even if there's the tactical layer is very strong)

Yea, Eador's 2 main weaknesses in my opinion are: poor A.I. (as is the case with most games), and the grind for shards. Because you always start over with each new shard. If it didn't do that.. omfg, what a game it would be.



It would be the IT game for this gen 4x fantasy rpg tbs.



Now, if EL took cues from the leading games... oh man!!!!

Yeah, but I gave each game a solid attempt a trying to like it and I walked away bored with AoW3 in a few short hours while I've already given EL four times the amount of gameplay.



So, unbiased is still EL

AOW3. I think it is a bit of an unfair comparison due to the fact this game is only just now in Beta though. I do like both. Although i do have a sneaking suspicion I will still prefer AOW3 a little bit when EL is at its full release.
