Suggestions to solve the problem :

It would be great ot have a game option to forbit trading with AI, or ton only autorised no trade trading, or ton autorise trading only with humans, or to ban any trading with humans or AI.

That's very different from what I've been experiencing. I do play with the Tales of Auriga mod, it may alter how the AI trades. If that's the case everything I've said is moot. It might be moot anyway. smiley: smile

But I trade with the Drakken every game, as I'm cursed with their presence. I can usually score one good tech and two previous era techs. More if I have the influence.

That's the rub. I'm usually always behind on tech, so for me it's not outdated. It still helps propel me further to victory through conquest. I'd imagine for much better players it's pretty minor, especially in multiplayer. But it's become a crutch for me when I'm playing poorly.

I meant outdated for both. The only tech I saw them eagerly exchange were era 1 and 2 tech, when we were in era 4 onwards. By that point, it's outdated for everyone.

I also see them being very reserved about exchanging military tech.

The only worthwhile tech trading that I've done, on serious, was me exchanging advanced tech for another of similar level (or two of a previous era).

I can't believe how much the AI is willing to bend and trade everything if you give them strategic or luxury resources. For instance, I just got 4 techs with only like 13 palladium or something. Is this considered an exploit and frowned upon by most players?

I am at Hard level at the moment - so no clue if the AI does this at higher levels, too. I also wonder if the AI gave up so much, because I am ahead in era, and he wasn't going to have access to T3 strategic resources for a while.

I've been noticing this a lot lately too. Three techs for 5-10 Titanium for peace, then 3-4 turns later the damned Drakken want a vision exchange. So I offer them Glass steel and they give me 3 more techs.

If I'm having a bad game it's very easy to abuse this. I did this with the Wild Walkers earlier today, I was WAY behind in every category. Mainly because I suck with the Wild Walkers. I prefer Cultists or Broken Lords. Anyway, gaining all of these techs for relatively nothing feels weird. On the one hand yes the AI is cheating and so I can justify this. On the other.. it feels dirty.

I'd prefer it to be more difficult. Or at least make the Drakken demand a tech back they are missing. Or even go tech for tech. Or even have them immediately declare war, because my demands are too selfish, and I'm not Drakken.

OR simply remove the Drakken from the game. That may be too extreme however.. it's just there is something about them. They always want to be friends, and I just want to take their tech and kill them later. They are dragon-things. They should not be my friends. I want them on my BBQ not in my house drinking my beer and watching my TV.

Hmmmn... this is interesting to me, since it would be fascinating to, when the save is provided, hear what a dev that's looked into the AI brain has to say on the subject. Namely, I'm curious as to what parameters the AI uses when trading, or using diplomacy in general. I say this noting I predominantly play Pitiless home brews. XD

But, still! Could the AI be plotting? Building and army? Wanting to fast-track a singular improvement? What is the price for the Adamantian on the market right now? What does it DO with the resource on at the end of that or the turn few turns? Does it sell it? Does it immediately use it for military units, or does it suddenly blossom with a few economic buildings? Is it capable of all/any of this sort of planning?

Inquiring minds would be quite interested to know, which is good because this thread seems to have the ears (eyeballs) of those that might have illuminating answers.

This seems strange, yes. If you send the save I'll have a look at the AI's brain and see what's going on.

Could you tell me 1) where the save files are located (I think I remember the turn where it happened, and I have a save within a few turns of that occurrence), and 2) where to send the files?

Thanks in advance.
