Custom factions would be welcomed but even more welcomed would be custom units. Hope devs thinking about custom units too.

I think I will choose to pay for the early access to express my opinion, but have no idea if the devs have ever considered a full multiplayer function like Payday 2 or Mass effect 3.

All the custom things have a big problem: because the AIs can't "customize," the players have to do that by themselves in the beginning of a multiplayer game, or just play single player only.

The "custom" thing is not just about appearances, is about abilities and advantages. So anyone who wants custom things has to play the planned multiplayer games, like playing boardgames.

That's why these co-op games always do in the same way. The devs of them don't spend time on AIs because human beings are better teammates.

And human players can work together against any AIs who cheat like crazy, no matter how outnumbered and outgunned the human players are.

That's why they don't spend time on AIs because there is no need. And they don't even need to balance a lot. Balance what? No one loses, it is co-op!smiley: sarcastic

Their only job is to make sure the player can join a game in 10 seconds. The multiplayer mode in Endless Space now is impossible to do that.

But if the devs try to make great AIs for single player only, and a lousy multiplayer mode, that will be fine, too.

But it is proven to be more difficult and not so piracy-proof.

And I hate to say, the devs won't get what they deserve.

Elemental: Fallen Enchantress i believe solved the custom problems with a rather good solution. After a game with each prefixed faction and custom faction the AI learns to use the custom units you created during your games and also (thought not 100% sure) you can edit the xml and add your own units for each faction

I am curious to see how this will tie into Endless Space proper....

Yes, how do you go from sci-fi with lasers and spaceships to fantasy with swords and shields?

Looks interesting and since ES is great I will probably pre-purchase it. Well, unless it uses the same combat system as ES, that's the only part I really hate - yeah, I really mean hate, not just dislike - about Endless Space. Replace it with actual combat and you can have my money.

I theoretically could tell quite a few things about the game that Spacetroll presented to us in some bar in Cologne.

But then again there's the NDA... :\

But I think I can say that there's some really brilliant solutions to things that made problems in other games.

This is very interesting, and I am a fan of that type of game, BUT:

What I am very excited about is the fact that (apparently) your actions and the actions of other players will have influence on what your world becomes. So I assume you can play like a Craver and devouer everything and everyone and by the end of the game, the whole planet will just be a barren, lifeless rock. If that's how it works then this is truly awesome! And it gives so much RPing potential.

That is not unique!

Both the old Age of Wonders series and the new Elemental: Fallen Enchantress/Legendary Heroes already does this.

And right now, it seems that there's a renaissance of these types of game, with Warlock: Master of the Arcane and Eador: Masters of the Broken World already out and Worlds of Magic and a new Age of Wonders on the way.

It will be interesting to see what they can bring to the table in order to stand out...

The thought of an Endless ship crash landing into a primitive planet with Elves and Vampire types... to suddenly infest the planet with dust to bestow 'magical' abilities and wreck havoc on their environment.

Man, the numerous paths they could take this game has me excited. A possible Warhammer 40k scenario set in a different universe is pretty sweet.

Since they also told most of this stuff to the press, there should be either an official statement telling more, this week, or the press will start leaking that, anyways. smiley: stickouttongue

I can see it was announced on various websites but not here. Why?

Because they chose to reveal this to the press at Gamescom and didn't have a forum post prepared, it seems. It is hard to do anything at Gamescom but talk to the press, though, it seems, because they were swamped with appointments and the Space Troll grew quite a beard and I won't comment on the state of his eye rings... smiley: wink

Well, we managed to see his eyes, which in itself was an achievement...

All the devs had a hard time speaking, due to having talked too much since the begin of the Gamescom.
