It looks like a strategy board game, is it the origine of the endless' empire??? smiley: smile

Since dust is already there, this should be, in principle, after the Endless wars. So when the Endless had already destroyed themselves.

Well, what we've been shown is like neither, really. You start with one hero army stack, like in heroes of might and magic, with a maximum number of armies inside. If that clashes with another, the stacks can be deployed right on the map on allowed positions, so the terrain is very important (can't deploy infantry on the sea or even behind a mountain range that you couldn't pass by from your position).

Then you can arrange the setup of your armies and afterwards have 2 minutes where your army fights the other one in real time.

During this time, you can give all of your units orders or activate special hero abilities, as you see fit. Your hero is also one of the units that actually fights.

Each unit has some stats, including speed, and the attack/defense stats depend on terrain and elevation levels.

So this is nowhere near as easy as Civ V or ES, even if it might be subject to change in the months to come. But that is the kind of system we have been shown and the journalists have been shown. Therefore I consider myself empowered by teasing you with this general summary about some aspects of the combat system as is, now. And I need a goddamn innocent angel smiley. 3smiley: smile

Um, not completely. They happen real time, but they happen real time on the global map. So there is no zooming in, the game stopping for everyone and you taking command and setting up your armies in a new instance.

Rather, everyone can play on, the turn just cannot end and you can start meddling in the two minutes the combat lasts by issuing orders and using abilities, yes. smiley: wink

Won't this result in half an hour turns in late game because of battles?

No. There will just be less battles to fight.

Battles are meant to last 2 mins each (subject to testing of course), and all your armies must be lead by generals and heroes, so you have way less armies than in Endless Space.

I agree. Dust was created by the endless long after the Endless Home World was devastated by careless mining, so this shouldn't be the origin of the Endless. In addition, the Endless home world was home to far more "conventional species" not orcs and vampires.

However, some realms of the Endless empire were home to radicals who (if I remember correctly) mutated themselves/where mutated by the Dust. Thus, it could be a planet where this mutation occurred, mutating the local population of animals, etc. into the characters, and the spaceship that crashed was surveying.

Then again, "Dungeon of the Endless" could refer to a planet in which the unethical Endless ran dust controlled experiments on a planet and populated it themselves with the creatures in EL.

Good grief im ranting again.

Well, it is simple causality. The devs tease us VIPs to no end, so we end up wanting to tease the community just as much, if not worse. smiley: stickouttongue

+1 for this. Hope there is no timer like ES. At least keep it out from single player games.

The ES timer is good for MP games, and its toggle able. So I wouldn't have a problem with a similar implementation in EL.
