Usually I m being carefull myself but Amplitude got a (good) past in my book and as they are not venturing into new territory here (being a 4x and all) I trust em to deliver. I m sure they ll learn from things in Endless Space they are not too happy about or realize how certain design features can make following changes a *BLEEP*. All in all if its the same people that were on board for Endless Space I m pretty sure they ll be able to improve.

I wonder how far that game is already. Is it all only screenshots and "idea" shots to collect a database or is it in alpha already? How will the community be involved?

Vampires strike me as kinda overpowered as Vampires have all these nifty traditional advantages (immortal, super-strength, invisibility etc etc) but its their game and their universe they gonna tailor these guys the way they want.

The battle screen hints at more involving features regarding combat which is a good move IMO. Endless Space was advertised as cinematic and it delied in that regard but watching stuff playing out without your input gets boring quickly so a more active approach seems promising.

I think you are right about amplitude as some companies start believing their own hype. I will wait until their is a demo or a game play video. Thank you for the information Nos about that it was in Pre Alpha stage.

At gamescom, the game was in pre-alpha stage. It's still a long way to beta and I'm not sure when an alpha will be ready.

Inside my shell, I wait and bleed...

I'd really like to have some ingame footage yet, this and the "Dungeon of the Endless" look so promising lol

The game is in (very) early alpha: playable but still lacking many features. smiley: smile We would love to repeat what we have done with Endless Space in the past: releasing the game thanks to the Early Access system on Steam, which will allow the community to help us improve the game for the "real" release.

Yeah that does sound a good idea if they do let us help get it ready? or would it be released only to VIPs?

If its like what they did with ES it will be early access for anyone who pays for it (but it was the same price as buying it when it came out, so)

It will probably be released to the VIPs before ever becoming an early access, we usually get the first glimpse and fix the most blatant errors, but it will be out not soon enough, in any case, to sate my curiosity. smiley: alder

Well, okay - but Early Access is quite nice for us too - e.g. @ Kinetic Void they learned a ton from the feedback we gave them. smiley: smile

I love alphas and betas - I've managed to become a regular closed beta tester over at Paradox. Oh the tales of bugs and funny glitches I wish I could tell. smiley: wink

My sentiment is the same... Alpha and Beta stages are my favorite to play, even though they aren't balanced and have tons of bugs.

does anyone else get nostalgia watching alpha and beta ES combat? it wasn't very realistic but it was fun...

Not me. I don't like alpha/beta testing. I'd rather get the finished product. I can wait. I like to follow the forums and look at the pics of the changes though and add my 0.02 cents. But that's about as far as I am willing o participate in the early/late stages of game development.

For it depends on the genre of the game that I am playing. I have done some few beta tests /alpha for web based games. As for VIP getting earlier access we know who to blame for any blant mistakes that get through.

Really? I thought VIP status was a responsibility, not a perk...

I wonder where all those Disharmony bugs were hiding when the VIPs did their testing... I love a good conspiracy lol

Well said, well said - I see VIPs here more like the guys with responsibility too smiley: stickouttongue

Well I won't hold back on commenting on that, even when risking to piss the Amplitudés off a little...

Those bugs weren't hiding at all and we told them so.

The last beta before the release couldn't even be played without constant error-popups. I wouldn't even have put that to beta yet!

I thought like "WTF?", when they announced the release 2 weeks before it happened.

The Devs did not ignore us, they tried to fix as much of the stuff. But the Marketing-guys sure did.

They must've been aware of the state of the game but decided to push for their release-date anyways.

I told them that I was not happy with that decision and that they might regret it.

Now I can just hope they learned their lesson and won't do such a thing again.

It really is frustrating to beta-test, find and report a lot of bugs, have the product released anyways and than be blamed for sloppy testing. smiley: mad

Sad but true - many people keep forgetting that it would have been much worse without the testers....

The bug thing was a joke, since I am a tester for multiple games and very well know that bugs hide for no-one.

Just understand that we blame you guys for allot because of the VIPs (usually) incessant teasing. *looking at you Nos*
