If you go to Korea, you better practice StarCraft 2! smiley: biggrin

I like chess much more than go. The different kinds of pieces help my immersion immensely.

From my view the match against InFlamesWeTrust was like that:

I got an early positional advantage due to him having little clue about opening theory. But I wasn't really able to capitalize on it. Then he blundered away a piece, which should've been enough of an advantage to win... had I been any good.

But I overlooked him threatening one of my very important central-pawns later on. This allowed him to get 2 connected passed pawns. My disability of playing proper chess resulted in me having to sacrifice a rook in order to stop them from queening or building up enough pressure with my material-advantage. Then it looked clearly lost. But then he blundered away another piece and so I won a match that was quite even, not because we were equally good but equally bad. smiley: biggrin

Well, I just want to add, that probably everyone of you can beat me at chess, but at least adder, who's got prizes for his chess-mastery, cannot beat me in M&M clash of heroes card games, without me having paid anything to win, as he has not, either.

So, maybe, we can agree that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and you can just play for revenge, next year? smiley: stickouttongue

Might be useful for when I go to Korea and someone challenges me to a match of Go

In Korea, the game is named Baduk.

The game of go is so much more immersive than chess once you have played with someone that explains you what to do and why.

I hope this will be the last game about Endless, it's kinda getting boring.

Its not even about the Endless, its just in the title and there is dust but dust is now more like magic.

However, some realms of the Endless empire were home to radicals who (if I remember correctly) mutated themselves/where mutated by the Dust. Thus, it could be a planet where this mutation occurred, mutating the local population of animals, etc. into the characters, and the spaceship that crashed was surveying.

Then again, "Dungeon of the Endless" could refer to a planet in which the unethical Endless ran dust controlled experiments on a planet and populated it themselves with the creatures in EL.

Regardless of whether or not we hit the mark, we always try to create backstories and histories that make sense and are credible within the established rules and timelines of the Endless universe. These theories certainly come under the category of "plausible explanations".

But I'm not going to confirm or deny, because I'm just not that nice a person. }: >

I don't think you are allowed to confirm/deny even if you wanted to smiley: stickouttongue unless Amplimath lets you handle whats released and whats not...

"Plausible Explanations"

I'm glad this was the response, not something like "WTF"

Came out of the darkness to say that this looks interesting, but I will reserve my true judgement for when gameplay is revealed.

Such a cool concept. I just heard about this today on the Crate and Crowbar podcast. Can't wait to see more.

OI I m not that much into fanatsy themed 4x but that screenshots got me hooked because of the GUI only....awesome. Having faith in the devs on this one to deliver a (quality) strategy game with a PUNCH.

/cheers you guys on

Way to go, I m glad to see you running around and being active guys

I do like some of the ideas more and more. Sometimes I do get to hyped over things and then get disappointed as nothing like what they were promising.

Usually I m being carefull myself but Amplitude got a (good) past in my book and as they are not venturing into new territory here (being a 4x and all) I trust em to deliver. I m sure they ll learn from things in Endless Space they are not too happy about or realize how certain design features can make following changes a *BLEEP*. All in all if its the same people that were on board for Endless Space I m pretty sure they ll be able to improve.

I wonder how far that game is already. Is it all only screenshots and "idea" shots to collect a database or is it in alpha already? How will the community be involved?

Vampires strike me as kinda overpowered as Vampires have all these nifty traditional advantages (immortal, super-strength, invisibility etc etc) but its their game and their universe they gonna tailor these guys the way they want.

The battle screen hints at more involving features regarding combat which is a good move IMO. Endless Space was advertised as cinematic and it delied in that regard but watching stuff playing out without your input gets boring quickly so a more active approach seems promising.

At gamescom, the game was in pre-alpha stage. It's still a long way to beta and I'm not sure when an alpha will be ready.
