And i can vow that Amplitude won't do the same error than Stardock.

Amplitude has already a very clear idea of what they want and how they want. They also are very open to suggestions but also can be very clear about things that can/can't be done. (that was such a lack of direction that lost Stardock on the Elemental front : they just listened to too many players).

I believe it too. I was just putting my thoughts out there.

I am so pumped for this game.

Well, it looks like Amplitude made quite an impression at PAX:

"The highlight of PAX for me was watching the Amplitude Studios designer (Endless Space, etc) demoing Endless Legend to a bunch of Firaxis devs".

The game looks amazing. I'm more psyched for this than any other game at the moment.

Amplitude is quickly becoming one of my favorite developers and I've been playing and following video games since the early 80's. Very exciting stuff!

Hilarious that the still on the second video shows the guy on the left crosseyed.

Unless that's how he is normally. Then, and only then, I'm an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

To sum up my thoughts so far....

Disclaimer: I am an avid fan, and I absolutely love Endless Space.... so...

Please, please, please.... don't do what Stardock did with Elemental. There is so much right with this game (at least based on what people are saying and the footage we've seen), but listen to the Alpha/Beta testers. The majority of them really do want you to release an amazing product.

Okay... Diplomacy needs a solid A.I., Combat strategy needs to exist, though I love the 1UPT hero/squad/army set up. I was completely fine with Combat in ESsmiley: biggrin, and if you did some version of that, I would be fine too, because in reality, CIV5:BNW is a simple graphical representation anyways.

Overall global A.I. needs to be solid. Granted, an A.I. player will never be a human player and vice versa, but for us SP people, we need to be able to play the game against the comp without it having to cheat and make life miserable.

The rest.. well, keep up the great work.

The only new info is that the tech "tree" is "round" - I assume similar to ES. They were very positive about the game!
This was already revealed in a GDD that the tech 'tree' was round. Not like in ES though.

This studio is incredible, really it is the first time I am waiting like that on a game and reading everything about it.

I cannot wait longer for the alpha on steam, I just hope it will work on OSX!

There is very little variability in outcomes. You have your base value, then the modifiers and the final result. The graphic you see is identical no matter the result. If you turn off the graphics the result doesn't change. In ES you have the combat where you just have results or the animated one where you can still change your tactics and change the overall outcome. Because it takes longer to resolve, you can change the final outcome. In CIV, you can't. Once in a blue moon you get a slight alteration, in the outcome, but that is rare. Does this make more sense now?

Yes, thanks for the clarification. I somewhat disagree with your overall sentiment though, because of the tactical elements in Civ 5 - where troops are positioned and what order they attack in - makes a great deal more difference than any options presented by ES's card system. Granted, the results skew less toward the human player in ES due to most people's inherent tactical ability with a 1UPT system vs the AI's (which is terribly difficult to program, judging from Civ 5 and AoW III), but it's frankly less interesting or exciting to play. I can't wait to try EL's system, which on the face of it will be a welcome combination of both Civ5's tactical positioning and ES's more predictable outcomes.

The tactics you speak of do not exist in CIV5 when it comes to combat. I have seen little difference between the easiest and hardest setting when it comes to combat. All things being the same, the "tactical" A.I. in CIV5 is brain dead. When playing another person, I can see your point. In CIV5, the "setup" is before combat. In ES, you can make adjustments during combat. But inherently, you are correct, they are very similar. I too am looking forward to EL. There is a vid that was posted today that showed more gameplay during the interview, and it had a brief glimpse of combat. It looked fun.

I love the idea of a hero leading an army, though many have done it lately. I am curious to see how EL handles it.

Civ5 A.I improved a lot in expansions and is not the brain dead game you describe. The game sold 5 milllion copies and is at the top 8 for most played game in the universe for a reason,it is good.

I said the combat A.I. is brain dead, not the game. I have over 400 hours into it.
