I had the impression Sloul was talking about assimilated villages

Anyway, I like the idea of sieging/razing/taking control of extractor or villages, but remember: I we implement this, we will probably add the razing abilities to the minor factions... Do you really want them to be more annoying that they already are?

Yes, make it happen! Maybe just slow down the rate at which roving bands increase in stack size to compensate - that should keep the "annoyance level" about the same, while putting pressure on the player to prevent going all Econ in the early game.smiley: smile

Would be nice if minor factions had troops guardind their village.

This would be a great adition to the game. After all, raiding an enemy's facilities is a key point in any war.

Not just destroying the extractors, but being able to "siege" enemy Resource nodes until a point in which they are destroyed, thus claiming the node's production (call it pillaging/raiding) would be wonderful.

The same could work for "occupying" Minor Villages, either taking slaves in the form of Industry stockpiles or +% chance to spawn player-owned units until the Village is destroyed could add another layer into the Minor Villages instead of just [Settlethiszonetoassimilate]. (And also give us more leeway into snagging neat extra units while out exploring!)

Absolutely right, a game where the destruction is instant with no chance to recapture can be frustrating, especially one with simultaneous turns and simultaneous movement.

What I wanted to be able to do was just get rid of the city once I took it without dealing with "Salting the Earth", but I think I can understand why this needs to be place. It's to give the other player a chance to stop the destruction of his/her cities when another player has taken it. When I made this suggestion, it's because my empire has grown so powerful that I can take multiple major factions at once (my last game as Wild Walkers I ended up sweeping up the AI in about 3-4 turns at about the 160 turn mark) and so I wasn't considering taking their cities, just destroying them quickly.

TL;DR, nevermind the burning of cities outside of "Salting the Earth", it's probably for the sake of balance. Still agree with the OP though. smiley: smile

I absolutely agree. This is one aspect I liked in Civ. The enemy city might be too strong for you to assault directly but you can still hurt him economically by damaging his outlying production facilities.

I'd like to see this as well. Think as it stands, it's pretty safe to start up a new region and exploit it without too much to worry about. Raiding also provides more interaction with the region apart from just going after an enemy player's city.

And on the topic of burning, I'd like to be able to choose to burn a city instead of capturing it when I attack one. Cause ain'tnobodygottimeforthat (esp. closer to endgame where I have the regions I want and would rather not take the expansion disapproval for 4 turns.)
