I'll try to give some feedback now. Sorry it took me so long, didn't have time for a proper post. smiley: smile

I won't be participating in this part of the contest, but I'm still excited. smiley: biggrin

@Sovereign: Even though I pictured a non-living ship I can totally imagine the cult having a sentient whale-like being in fusion with machinery as their naval unit. I dig the idea. I imagine the movement and the sound they make as they slowly venture the oceans. Scary.

Also it gives to the idea of few but monumental ships in possession of the cult, which suits them very well I think.

As for the logo I don't really understand the tomoe version. But sun and the face is pretty simple and effective. I actually had a similar thing in mind, and I'm not surprised lots of people played with the same symbols. smiley: biggrin

@Buzzkillington1990: That face on the central tower is pretty much what I had in mind for their symbol. smiley: biggrin

@LordVladec: I like both ideas, even though the ship isn't very specific. But the idea of submarine-like ship intrigues me. smiley: smile

@JErosion: Logo is nice and simple. I really like it. But that ship is amazing! :O Nice clean shapes, follows the unit design and fits the faction perfectly imo. It looks functional but at the same time it's kind of grotesque . So its a win-win. Will also translate into the game really well, which is always a plus.

@adder: Ha, that logo actually very interesting. Personally I'd go for triangle/knot shape alone for the simplicity. Would look nice on their architecture. As for the ship it gives the monumental vibe which I like. I just wish it had a simpler shape akin to plate armor "broken" here and there with some ornaments.

@Rhum: I think you and your gf did a great job! Ship is creepy and it reflects the unit/city design really well and I like the general shape of it. It gave me that uneasy feeling just imagining it moving, with animated arms and everything. smiley: smile

@Bibool: Love it! smiley: biggrin General shape, details, everything. Both automaton and crab-like oar-arms fit. I wouldn't change anything. And your logo is the best interpretation of the face symbol so far.

@uriak: Wow. Really really like that logo. Seriously your paintings are getting better and better. Great colors and atmosphere. I quite like the ship design, but at the same time I wish it was a bit more deviant if you know what I mean. smiley: biggrin

Did I forget someone?

This will be a tough one.

JErosion, Rhum, Bibool and uriak nailed the ships! There isn't anything I don't really like about those designs. They all fit the theme and have interesting shape/design. It will be really hard to choose who to vote for in the second phase. smiley: frown

Great job everyone so far! smiley: smile

@Tellum : Thank you, but it's actually the kind of stuff I do most often - my gallery

@Bibool : thanks !

I see what you mean about the deviancy, but I settled again on a more classical look. Issue is we don't have many examples of navy so far in EL, the first ship that was shown didn't even sport a sail at all, we can expect a kinda living thing from the necrophages and a steampunkish design from vaulters, so I opted with a stern with the same designs as your buildings and side propulsors while keeping sails because it's a fantasy setting and it gives ships more character imho. Walking/flying ships are of course ideas but we don't know if it was considered at all for the factions. Whale like ships won't be seen much if they stay submerged smiley: stickouttongue

PS : as a quick advice for those who take photos/scans of their drawings, try reinforcing contrast to make them more readable, it can be easily done with free software smiley: smile

Thank you all for your feedback !

As JErosion said, it's great to receive some kind of "validation" from you Telum !

You did some great improvement Bibool, I really like what you've done with your craboster smiley: biggrin

Uriak your suggestion is damn hot.

Nosferatiel, since your opinion matters (a lot), my gf did a whole new logo that better represents your "Slay the gods !" motto.

We initially liked the sun pattern Telum put on some of his buildings because we seen it as a dying or setting sun, figurating the End.

As for your concern about ships not being actually produced in the temple, and your feeling that Cultists should use something like a boat-in-a-kit or some light skiff, or even rafts as the Necrophages do, to better represent how cultists have to actually build or bring the ships to the sea, I had not thought about it.

And looking at Amplitude's CEO Mathieu explanations about ship travelling, and the designs the devs produced so far, I think I need to make up an additional explanation for my ship design.

I updated my post accordingly !

Same here smiley: smile

I regret that I can not draw better, 'cause I know that my ship isn't great after all.

But: We pay für EL, so why we have to do any stuff by ourself? Amplitude should make the concept of my ship smiley: biggrin ( This sentence is not meant seriously - before someone has this idea smiley: wink)

Representative of their desire to eclipse the endless, the symbol reminds the cultists of their burning desire to destroy the endless.

I am too busy for original artwork this time. But this image is extremely close to my vision of the cultist ships:

OK so I'm on vacation atm so I've just done a really quick sketch of my ideas. For the boat: It is a Longboat because I thought faces on the end prow things would be cool and the front one would be scary and yelling to intimidate the enemy while the back is serene and neutral (or something like that). To aid in land travel, the ship's oars can be locked in and used by the crew to carry. I drew the heads with opposite emotions but they should be flipped.

The symbol revised: the Halo

Got to say I back Rhum ideal looks weird and creepy yet doesn't look like it waste to much functionality for creepiness or built on a whale which I feel doesn't fit the theme but might for another race someday.

yeah I love the whole of idea of the cult twisting sea creatures to suit there needs for sailing, they would be like the ultimate enemy of the wild walkers("Although Enemy to All smiley: wink " ) who shape nature, A Cult twisting nature and life into a means of there ultimate goal

@Buzzkillington1990 is that a proposal? Cause the Cloverfield Monster indeed would be a way of a land walking version of maritime animal ships ^^.

btw: added some new images in my proposal I found to show that my idea doesnt necessary would be to have whale like.

So far in every single proposal there is something i realy like, if i could I would give a vote to anyone here.

Yes, that is a legit suggestion. It doesn't necessarily have to look like the Cloverfield thing, but some kaiju-esque creature that's been converted into a living transport vessel by the Cult is something that I'd love to see done.

Just stick some of that *Telum artwork on the sucker, downsize him a bit for management, and then lodge a bunch of ship living-quarters on his back **Sovereign-style, and we'll be good to go.

I'm not sure whether I'm breaking a dam, here, but for the cultists, I'm missing a few very basic thoughts about ship and symbol concepts, so far:

  • The cultists are against the Endless. The queen leads them, okay, but I'm missing any "I slay the GODS!"-vibe from the symbols, so far. smiley: stickouttongue
  • I do have no idea what the cult has to do with the sun. Winter is to them not unlike a red flag is supposed to be to a bull, but that's it.
  • Any cultistic navy has to take into account that the Temple of Cessation as the single city of the Cult may not be adjacent to any sea. How do you get a ship to the sea, then? To solve that problem is one of the main parts of designing a cult ship. It could be dismantled into transportable parts and then assembled on the shore. So a simple, yet effective design. Or it could be amphibic. Your choice, your solution. smiley: wink

Hmmm... godslaying, you say...

I'm trying to create association but staking these on top of each other. Dance! Dance, my social experiment puppets!

Our perfect queen is surrounded by her sworn protector. Together they will shatter this world and shall burn in everlasting glory!

The sacred propulsors are a powerful remnant of our old age. But they usage should help us when Aurigan doesn't provide us with her powerful winds. Our builders can start building a ship core and the vast rooms used to travel safely, though a bit of more casual work is needed to form a fully sailable vessel... Each one will get a figurehead representing an important member of our newfound alliance or a blessed Glyph from our Queen herself.

Hi !

My girlfriend and I thought we would give this a try, since we both find Telum's artwork was really great and inspiring.

She designed the logo and I made the ship sketches, we hope you'll like it !

I just noticed Bibool had already designed a ship with arms. I did not meant to rip it off, sorry for that.

Thanks for watching !

Waow ! This is really great !! It is indeed, very close to what I had in mind, but fortunately I made my way into another direction smiley: wink!

The Idea of a "ro-boat" was great but as I thought of it I finally came to the conclusion that another robot was not what a Ship of the cult supposed to be. I wanted it to be half classical-half robotic.

I inspired myself with Tellum's artwork and french 30's designs, and brought back pieces of old Steampunk. I didn't want it to be just Tellums designs combine, but something more personal. I even tried to had some easter eggs of my old cultist view smiley: smile. That finally make's a strange ship with a taste of old, a taste of flesh, and something odd with those arms and legs !

I wanted a lubster-like thing in the ship, it mains part, something disgusting. It was hard to come with something clean, but I finally choose that sort of caterpillar, you don't know if it's a cabin, or something else. You don't know if this strange ball is a head, and if it is, if this is a living shellfish, where are its arms ?! If you pay attention to it, you will almost see the body behind the ship, from the "caterpillar head" to the shellfish-legs, like a "Z". But then it raises others questions, what moves the multiple oat-arms ? why is there windows ? Finally, those questions annoy you, so forget all of that, it's just a ship, but still, that kind of cabin looks good.

Hope you will like it, this is the last and final version :

My ship can walk on the ground and reach the shore ! Just for the sake of Epicness smiley: approval ! Ahah

Edit : I finally choose the without leg version after a long and a tought inner fight...!
