Isn't that an underestimation of the power of Dust? In ES, dust was a substance that could do practically anything, and in EL it seems even more important. As long as you have insane amounts of dust, I don't see why you couldn't terraform whatever you want in EL. As long as you have the tech.

Yes, I am hoping this gets addressed in later builds.

One of my favorite things about 4X games is exploration. The thrill of uncovering new lands is great, it makes every game hold promise and, at the same time, can give a wonderful sense of foreboding. As I send my scout through the mountain pass, will I find a perfect location for my next city or a giant Necrophage army preparing to invade? In all of the revealed screenshots, however, there does not seem to be any indication that there will be a fog of war or blacked-out unexplored terrain. I think this is a feature that should absolutely be included in EL. Tell me it's so, Amplitude!smiley: biggrin

Ahem . . . =)

Based on the following photo, I'm willing to believe that it CAN be built anywhere, but that the base provides some kind of added bonus (e.g., added sight range or some other benefit). This one tower, though, is the ONLY one that doesn't seem to be built atop one of these lumpy ruins things. I've also noticed that they all appear to be along or very near region borders--at least in the recent shots/footage.

Nobody's mentioned it, but it would be great if there were wandering beasts . . . maybe even wandering automata from Auriga's past =) Might make early game survival more interesting

+1 on this. I know it's a common trope for the genre, but still….

i suppose it could be a base for a watchtower but as an improvement, shouldn't you be able to build it anywhere? also the crumbling ruins don't look like it would provide much support for a whole watchtower.

hmm, not those either, sorry for not being able to express my thoughts with a picture, i mean the kind of tan dome with crumbling columns just above the endless legend label in your screenshot on page 3.

This?

If so, I'm 95% sure that's a mounting point for a watchtower. See the following (the first two are Wild Walker ones and the third is from the Broken Lords city screenie). The first seems to be at a different level. I don't recall whether watchtowers have different levels of upgrade, but a number of the resource extractors apparently do, so it would be consistent with the overall region building design philosophy.

These, you mean?

If so, I totally agree with you and always have. (see note 7 in the following link smiley: wink ) /#/endless-legend/forum/5-general/thread/828-el-vaulter-reveal-picture-analysis

My reference was to my previous thought in note 12 in this post: /#/endless-legend/forum/5-general/thread/834-faction-reveal-the-wild-walkers This note regarded only this item:

1. We have lots of examples of things that look like ruins in the game--these don't even closely resemble them. Take a look a few of the other images of these villages--they have lots of different buildings in them, so I don't see why you say there's no place for them to live.

2. I don't see why two of the same minor faction couldn't be in neighboring regions. Distribution I'd expect to be addressed in the course of testing.

I have some questions.

How much of region's surface can city influence (exploitation) area cover? What about the area that's outside of it?

Will there be army attrition?

i would think that regions have varying sizes and shapes, thus making certain regions more valuable than others

How many hexes is the smallest region compared to the largest? What sort of shape are regions?

or you know amplitude could have a sense of humor and make it so that there is no star, just a black hole, and auriga's magic keeps it from getting sucked in.

Sooooo, in Endless Space, Auriga orbits a random star.

Presumably, even if the name is lost to time, the color of the star would remain the same. If it's been a reeeally long time, perhaps the star is at a later point in its life cycle, but it couldn't change from a blue star to a red one, for example.

I want assurance that either A) Endless Space will be patched to standardize the star or B) the star in Endless Legend will be randomized.

I want this assurance because I am a huge nerd. Thanks! smiley: wink
