Take a look at the gameplay footage that Ashbery found. I'm betting on a minor faction (or playable one) at this point: in the first battle deployment you'll see a lot of fluttering insect wings =) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXfOqY0JMng&feature=player_detailpage#t=20
Wow, I didn't even notice that those guys are featured in that video and I have access to EL! Nice catch!

no there are too many of them to be minor factions villages, maybe endless wonder or something similar?

I'd have voted for the minor faction villages or the battle deployments =)

unlike the land borders the water borders don't seem to connect, why is this?

In the pic I put up, the borders actually do abut one another in the middle of the water. It's somewhat clearer when you watch the footage in motion in 1080 HD and stop it periodically. Most of them are white borders against white borders (unclaimed?). One region has green borders--the one occupied by the Wild Walkers city. If you continue watching the footage, though, you're right: there are areas that appear to have no adjacent border. I take this to mean that those areas are all water (ocean).

Haha, thanks! The huge, slug-like looking one (I'll just call it a Queen for now) looks truly horrifying lol. Judging by these mushroom villages, I suppose we get smurfs too smiley: biggrin

That's an interesting assumption. There are supposed to be 16 minor factions possible and up to 3 villages per region. They have homes and buildings and walls and everything. Especially these ones:

This other one looks like it would be a different minor faction--there appear to be walls and entryways when you stop the footage.

I'm also fairly convinced that this is also a minor faction town. I used to think it was an exploited resource (a mine for example). Maybe this is a delver town. I'm fairly convinced that white borders mean "inhabited" but not necessarily aligned with any faction. Some of the regions in the video appear to have NO borders (though this may just be a video error)--look at the southern most land in the last few frames of the video.

if anyone has ever seen the newish land of the lost movie, the part where they eat the giant crab is what i think that mysterious shape should be like.

it certainly resembles a spider but i don't see any markings identifying it as a unit, maybe its a luxury resource or something of that nature? kind of like a land crab and you can eat its delicious crab legs??

That's pretty much what I expect those things to be . . . unless of course the forebears of the Cravers are actually a playable race and that thing in the north of the snowy pic is a Craver army. Right now, I'd bet on wandering monster. Ditto with the Harmony-esque wandering crystal giant thing in the Wild Walkers city pic.

i have come back to this after the new screenshots of endless legend that include what may be a giant spider/endless robot that will devour your entire family, what do you think about it? i know that the cravers came to be like they are through endless experimentation so maybe there are hybrid biologic machine creatures made by the endless.

I think both could easily be in order. I think it would make lots of sense for your own city's happiness to suffer if some sort of awful creature is wandering about in the region creating mayhem.

I also think it would be a great thing for a neutral city to propose as a quest: Kill evil, left-over, roving Endless robot dragon creature and we'll [insertrewardhere,suchas"joinyourcause,"or"giveyouafavorabletradedeal,"or"giveyouspecialequipment,"or"giveyouaccesstoourresources,"etc.].

instead of random units maybe you could put story into something like this along with quests

i suppose it could be a base for a watchtower but as an improvement, shouldn't you be able to build it anywhere? also the crumbling ruins don't look like it would provide much support for a whole watchtower.

Based on the following photo, I'm willing to believe that it CAN be built anywhere, but that the base provides some kind of added bonus (e.g., added sight range or some other benefit). This one tower, though, is the ONLY one that doesn't seem to be built atop one of these lumpy ruins things. I've also noticed that they all appear to be along or very near region borders--at least in the recent shots/footage.

A terraforming function could be a really cool expansion concept. I could easily see it being tied to strategic or luxury resources as well as dust.
