Maybe you could add a sort of outpost that acts a lot like the outpost from ES, not becoming part of the main city until a certain amount of time has passed, then becoming a small island of influence in a region. Now that I think of it the idea kind of sounds like a suburb. The populations between the main city and outpost should be shared and have some negative bonuses though or else such a feature would be overused.

I hate city spam, it drove me nuts about Warlock/E:FE. I like how Eador does it, and I am loving how elegant EL design is. I am looking forward to more vids from each faction to see how each one handles things. I hope they are all unique.

This. Have the main city, and have up to 3 outposts. E:FE does this well. I like the single city per region.

I'm not so sure an "Outpost" would be a useful addition to the game...



- In order to have them they would need to be expensive or produce less otherwise everyone would just cherry pick the best spots in a region and not build a proper city.



- There are already outposts for strategic resources and luxuries. Would you bother building one for a basic resource hex? Only if you were really starved or had stacked bonuses (like the Wild Walkers on forests)...



- As mentioned by a few above, if you can effectively exploit the whole region, the placement of the city becomes less important.



Also, we haven't seen a late-game city yet, but I imagine they can get really big (20+ hexes) by adding districts to them.

There's already an outpost that also add regeneration and other bonuses to armies. Maybe the devs could add tech that let the outpost "gather" the FIDS from the hex it is built upon.

EDIT: I'm stupid... Outpost can only be built on "special" places. I hope devs will change that.
