The Future of Endless Space 2: A New Faction With Old Friends

We have some exciting news to share! Many of you have been wondering what the future holds for Endless Space 2, and we can finally give you an answer: Another Expansion, and another collaboration. Our friends at NGD have a special message for all of you about this:


Hi everyone!


We are the NGD Team behind the last two Endless Legend expansions, "Inferno" and "Symbiosis".
It's been an incredible experience working with Amplitude on these two installments, and we are very excited to announce we are teaming up once again for an upcoming Endless Space 2 Expansion.
We've learned a lot during our collaboration on Auriga, and we look forward to continue exploring the Endless Universe together!

Like all Expansions for Endless Space 2, this one will come with a core feature accessible to all factions, and a new major faction to accompany it. While we’re not ready to go into detail about the new feature just yet, we’re eager to share the direction we’re taking the new faction in!


This faction will be a complete departure for Amplitude and the 4X genre. Rather than leading a vigorous young civilization reaching out toward the stars, the player will be fighting to restore an ancient, declining faction; this people is dreaming of their past glory and striving to recapture it. They will start out much stronger than other empires, but will have to struggle to stay ahead — or even keep up. Like Rome after the fall, they are full of potential but are held back by the weight of their own culture.


Those of you who have been part of our community for some time know that we love to involve you in the process, and we want this expansion to be no different! We will have a series of votes on lore aspects of the expansion, and we’re kicking it off with the origin of one of their heroes.

I would wish for the future of endless space 2, which is not just automatic battles. It should be possible to intervene in the battles themselves and thus to defeat the enemy even with a fleet of small ships. the same goes for the planets battles. man should make the battles action richer, so that you not only look at them and know how it goes out. My suggestion, check out the "Total War" series. There you can fight in the battles, still turning the page and make a victory out of a complete defeat.

We know the Total War series quite well, and many of us enjoy it a lot.

That being said, our answer is still the same: One of the core design pillars of ES2's combat is that picking auto-battle should never be a disadvantage, and manually controlling the battles in detail does not mesh with that core pillar. Wars in Endless Space 2 are meant to be about strategic planning and taking the engagements you are confident you will win, not in somehow managing to crush the entire enemy navy with your militia forces (even though we agree that doing so can be fun.)

an old faction old mhhh good recapitulon the endless in them even for them convenient, virtual or concrete may be a strenge of them even walk with us, I think rather to a faction related to them or lure experimentation, the Mezari for also agrees , of course I do iteration of known faction.

For the example the automaton are not necessarily a race that I see in the role, but from a gamplay point of view if I could use a word, a faction with a religious or ecological trait will be nice to counterbalance the nobre to refine peace.

Relatively new player here. Just wanna say that I too would much prefeer to see the game polished & balanced, instead of having even more factions.

I absolutely adore the game. But at times it feels clunky, the Diplomacy is completely incoherent and buggy, and ibe noticed several bugs even after only finishing my second game.


With Respect, Please consider investing more time into polishing the game, before focusing on more factions & DLC.
