Polishing ES2: The Final Patch

Hello everybody,

Today marks the release of the final patch in the series of patches that we announced a couple of months back for Endless Space 2.

The purpose of these patches was to resolve several bugs and issues reported by the community, and while we are confident that many of the worst problems have now been tackled, we also acknowledge that we were not able to address everything brought up by the community.

Endless Space 2 now offers a much more stable experience, and even though we have concluded this series of patches, we will still be keeping an eye out for your feedback and thoughts on your experiences playing Endless Space 2, and of course your reports on any issues you might encounter.

We want to thank you again for your patience, your dedication, and your passion for the Endless Universe.

List of Fixes

  • Fixed various issues causing turns stuck on Pending or unresponsive UI

  • Fixed compatibility issue with Intel Iris chipsets; the game should run properly on Surface devices now

  • Laws rewarded by quests are properly displayed in the Law screen again

  • Riftborn Hyperium Outpost action works again

  • AI should no longer make demands when asking for a truce

  • Vodyani can now build Arks with Meditation modules (fixed faulty DLC check)

  • Fixed localization key displaying in some diplomatic messages

  • Umbral Choir Population Collection bonus now applies its Hacking Speed bonus

  • Ionic Crystals properly apply their System Development Bonus now

  • Vodyani Factory of Faith no longer creates Ecstatic status at 5 or less Approval

  • Special node names use the full name list name list instead of duplicating names

  • Price of Perfection now properly applies its damage bonus

  • Shared Vision achievement no longer counts hidden uncolonizable nodes like quest nodes to determine the threshold

  • Fixed "Not For Profit" Achievement

  • Fixed occasional visual corruption of the Empire screen

  • Fold Singularity now properly applies its "top queue" effect after reloading a save

  • Fixed a situation when Sophons could not complete Chapter 1 of their main quest on particularly small galaxies

  • Undocked Arks now properly contribute to Overexpansion Disapproval (tooltip localization still missing)

  • Increased minimum hero unlock modifier to reduce occurences of "one new hero each turn" situations

  • Custom Factions combining Riftborn visual affinity with In the Shadows gameplay can now populate their sanctuaries

  • Sanctuaries can now be selected as a destination when hiring mercenaries or forming hero-only fleets

  • Vodyani no longer receive two Explorer Hulls

  • Fixed Vodyani Quest being impossible to complete without superweapons

  • Umbral Choir Tier 3 collection no longer applies to Sanctuaries on other home systems

  • Using Resource Recoverer Probes on crescents no longer reveals their location

  • Umbral Choir should no longer lose population in "upgraded slots" when migrating

  • Custom Factions with In the Shadows Affinity are now bound to starting on a Crescent System as intended

  • The Nakalim population collection trait is now available for custom factions

  • Custom Factions with In the Shadows can no longer take Extreme Foremen

  • Hacking effects of singularities no longer show without Penumbra enabled

  • High and Low Gravity should no longer spawn on the same planet

  • Filling all law slots should no longer prevent Eternal War empires with pacifist leadership from using diplomacy

  • Changed Asset Exporter to load assets only when selected to avoid excessive load time

  • Fixed portraits of two Hissho heroes being swapped

We're looking forward to the future of the Endless Universe with our community,

The Amplitude Team

Thats going to be my last game of you guys, and a bad review on Steam you going to get.

This is not the last patch ever, there will probably be more after Humankind releases. This was only the last patch in the sequel of summer patches

yeah but the title does not help, does it? :-D

I'm also curious as to what happened to the rewards promised at this years Endless Day event?

Thanks a lot....
With the final patch the 'pending at turn end' error re-appeared' :(
I hope this gonna be fixed in another 'final' patch...

regarding pending bug: I just let the game run in the background. It can take from 30seconds up to 2 minutes until the AI is finished talking. (Ryzen 5 3600)

It occurs often in my games because I'm playing with all factions enabled.

If the "Pending" bug is still driving you guys crazy, you can roll back to 1.5.31 by using the Beta options on Steam.

Nice. Quality of life is important.

Also I may have to get back into ES2 before they adjust the singularity bonus. Is there a community patch? Maybe request a very small penalty to science or ... influence that is neglible until you start trying to get to silly 18k production so like, if you ramp it up that high, sure you have lots of production but your influence drops near to zero. Everything is so focused on production that you don't spread influence or dictate laws. It still seems terrifyingly over powered but at least it would create limitations.

After update my games started to stuck on pending if any battle event left in event list, even if it had been resolved.

Battle notifications now block the end of turn by design, as this prevents a variety of other problems and allows players to view the results of their battles even with turn timers You can just right-click the icon to dismiss it.

At least I expect a hotfix for "The Final Patch". Anything else is more than disappointing and will keep me away from future Amplitude games.

My favourite hotfix would be the lately introduced Riftborn singularity persistence stacking bug, as long as it breaks a faction. And as long as I know, it's not fixable by modding community - a shame. Not even talking about the bugs listed this place: Bug reports from latest patch

A waste of time, to support Amplitudes games in future, if no hotfix is going to be released soon. Especially when thinking about how patiently community was waiting for these last patches.

Edit:

While writing about my (our) disappointment, the community manager posted this one:

It was the final patch of this cycle of patches, not the final patch ever. The pug is still coming, and so is the tech tree lore pass.

Glad to read about.

That's good to know and probably not clear at all for the community. I'm hoping they make Multplayer playable.

Having to click away every single - space combat only - encounter before the turn ends is kinda "suboptimal".

I like not.

This whole solution is suboptimal. If you want to avoid desync and hang problems due to someone watching battles, then simply disable option to watch it after pressing end turn.

I got a lot of pending bugs and have to reload now due to AI being in talks. At one point, I was only able to navigate with the mouse and the keys weren't working.

I seriously hope that this isn't the final patch.

I really hope ES2 get the support that EL got. That's kind of the last hope I got for the game now.

Does ATAC finally do something in this patch?

No?

Horatio may not need more happiness bonuses, but I imagine he's displeased all the same.
