Hello everybody,

Today marks the release of the final patch in the series of patches that we announced a couple of months back for Endless Space 2.

The purpose of these patches was to resolve several bugs and issues reported by the community, and while we are confident that many of the worst problems have now been tackled, we also acknowledge that we were not able to address everything brought up by the community.

Endless Space 2 now offers a much more stable experience, and even though we have concluded this series of patches, we will still be keeping an eye out for your feedback and thoughts on your experiences playing Endless Space 2, and of course your reports on any issues you might encounter.

We want to thank you again for your patience, your dedication, and your passion for the Endless Universe.

List of Fixes

  • Fixed various issues causing turns stuck on Pending or unresponsive UI

  • Fixed compatibility issue with Intel Iris chipsets; the game should run properly on Surface devices now

  • Laws rewarded by quests are properly displayed in the Law screen again

  • Riftborn Hyperium Outpost action works again

  • AI should no longer make demands when asking for a truce

  • Vodyani can now build Arks with Meditation modules (fixed faulty DLC check)

  • Shared Vision achievement no longer counts hidden uncolonizable nodes like quest nodes to determine the threshold

  • Fixed "Not For Profit" Achievement

  • Fixed occasional visual corruption of the Empire screen

  • Fold Singularity now properly applies its "top queue" effect after reloading a save

  • Fixed a situation when Sophons could not complete Chapter 1 of their main quest on particularly small galaxies

  • Undocked Arks now properly contribute to Overexpansion Disapproval (tooltip localization still missing)

  • Increased minimum hero unlock modifier to reduce occurences of "one new hero each turn" situations

  • Custom Factions combining Riftborn visual affinity with In the Shadows gameplay can now populate their sanctuaries

  • Sanctuaries can now be selected as a destination when hiring mercenaries or forming hero-only fleets

  • Vodyani no longer receive two Explorer Hulls

  • Fixed Vodyani Quest being impossible to complete without superweapons

  • Umbral Choir Tier 3 collection no longer applies to Sanctuaries on other home systems

  • Using Resource Recoverer Probes on crescents no longer reveals their location

  • Umbral Choir should no longer lose population in "upgraded slots" when migrating

  • Custom Factions with In the Shadows Affinity are now bound to starting on a Crescent System as intended

  • The Nakalim population collection trait is now available for custom factions

  • Custom Factions with In the Shadows can no longer take Extreme Foremen

  • Hacking effects of singularities no longer show without Penumbra enabled

  • High and Low Gravity should no longer spawn on the same planet

  • Filling all law slots should no longer prevent Eternal War empires with pacifist leadership from using diplomacy

  • Changed Asset Exporter to load assets only when selected to avoid excessive load time

  • Fixed portraits of two Hissho heroes being swapped

We're looking forward to the future of the Endless Universe with our community,

The Amplitude Team

Admitting that this is the final patch seems like a bad marketing choice from your side. If you intend to drop support (did the DLC's sell so badly?) for one of your games  when people clearly expect more from it, perhaps its better to keep quiet and let interest in the game die of its own...

On a contrary, I appreciate honesty, I just prefer for it to not be hidden below a pile of PR, that works only on people familiar with Studio for less then 1-2 years.

Aside from the final patch stuff, I don't recognize that work of art, is it new? And if so did the artist post on Artstation?

What a bullshit. It took a month to deliver this?

You've had a single person working in his spare time on this? What about couple dozen reports in forums from just this month alone? Who cares, right?

And even when you point exactly how to fix the problem, so to minimize fixing time for the dev - it is just ignored.

While I appreciate that most glaring issues, like non-working laws or disabled hyperium outpost action are fixed, some are still don't, like this Singularity stacking bug .

Looks like this whole "polishing" promise was insincere, like a throw of a bone.

Totally agree. I enjoyed amplitude games a lot, I have all at 100% but my journey with this company ends here. I came back to Endless Space 2 recently because was promised a series (ended up to be just 2 in a period of 3 months) of patches that will fix the game, you fix the riftborn for players but now they have BUG against AI like the Singularity stacking bug.

This is the final patch? Really?

Awakening is still broken.

I almost want to question the legality of selling the awakening DLC in its broken state. That is how bad it is.

Do you offer refunds? (It's a rhetorical question)

I played the Nakalim just to get achievements, the last dlc has no balance at all and it is just so bad. We should really get a refound for that lol. I'm just glad Awakening was the only DLC I bought at full price and I got all the game and all others on sale. Honestly I would not recommend anyone to buy Amplitude's games at day 1, always umbalanced and full of BUG.

Farewell amplitude. I've been patience for over 2 years now, waiting for bug fixes and balance to the game. but now you write that this is the final patch opened my eyes that your team is just messing with us, as a client I feel offended and scammed about what your promise. Polishing a game should make it shine, adding more issues and bug is not the way to do it. Honestly I don't understand those people thanking you for those minor fixes because that's what they are. . You said we shouldn't be upset because the game is not perfect as Horatio, but come on... this is just a broken game. CRAVERS FOR THE WIN!

I notice a disconnet.  Main title is THE FINAL PATCH, but the post says this is just the final patch in this series.  Was it intentional to make it sound like the game would receive no further patches?

It's PR. They don't intend to patch it further, but make it look like "someday" they will. Like someday they will make a tech tree lore pass "after next DLC".

That is not a bug. That is working as intended to prevent a number of other bugs with turns being ended while somebody is watching a battle, especially when playing multiplayer or with turn timers. It also helps ensure that you as a player can actually get to see the results of a battle even if a turn timer runs out.

And how should a normal player know that? Every other mandatory screen pops out in your face, when you press end turn. It dissallows end turn to be pressed, like when there is pending battle, or invasion, or some other mandatory prompt. Meanwhile post-battle report allows the button to be pressed and stays there minimized.

The Tech Tree Pass was never part of this set of patches, because it is a completely different set of people who need to work on that, and as far as I recall I have said so before.

I know it wasn't. I was referring to Amplitude's tendency not to remember promises they've given, shifting public focus to something new like it never happened. Like you guys could premise or post script announcements with "We remember we promissed X, but plans have changed and we won't be able to deliver on it because of Y", instead of feeding a false hope with something along the lines of "it's not the current focus, maybe later".

I'm angry. I have a right to be angry. I've been playing Amplitude games regularly since 2014, I've reached almost 1600 hours playtime in ES2, I've been waiting for "polished" game for 3 years and it's still nowhere near.  Hell, it was probably more polsied in between Vaulters and Supremacy period, then it is now. Both gameplay, balance and bug wise. It went downwards since then. Coincidentally, it's time when studio shifted its main focus towards new game. I'm fine with that. I'm not fine with adding new content at the cost of overall worse experience with the game. I'm not asking for apologies or anything, I know gamedev happens.

Damn right I feel obliged for something really good to happen with ES2 by now. But this is the point at which I stop waiting for a better fate for ES2.

I have a little belief Humankind will be treated any differently in the future, so good luck with it.

That is a very good point. I'll see if we can change that.

On the Tech Tree Rewrite, it's still planned. I'm sorry if I was not clear that it would arrive later than the bugfixing patches. Since the rewrite involves our writers, as well as localization afterward, it had always been planned to arrive later than these patches.

Uhm, what happened with savegames guys?

Normally, I type something in the field and hit ENTER and voilá. Game saved.

Since the patches, I have to type something in, hit ENTER, then click into the field and then have to manually click the save-button on the lower right. What's this about?

After update my games started to stuck on pending if any battle event left in event list, even if it had been resolved.
