+1 to this.

Though, for a rough sense of the size of a dreadnaught as compared to say, a corvette, perhaps the weapon ports (what I assume are the circular slots in ships) give something of a clue. If the ports are kind of standard in size, a corvette would appear to be maybe the length of 2-3 of the first 4 ports at the front of the dreadnaught.

Also, looking at the top of the Sophon battleship, I have to ask: Will that ship be able to mount some kind of massive cannon on top of it? Pls say yes. :)

I really like seing the different ships (in 3D! that's awesome!), but I wish we could have a way to scale their size. It would be great ;)

What do you mean, that isn't helpful at all? :p

Not at all - that's actually very interesting. If it is a robotic face then perhaps this will be the mechanoid major faction for the base game (I'm not expecting the Sowers or Automatons back as major factions in the initial release). Or perhaps it's a militaristic biological race that wears helmets? Or maybe I just need to wait for more hints. :p

You mean the quantum frog? Because that really doesn't look that close!

I'm really excited for the next major faction reveal seeing as it looks as though it'll be a totally new one. I can't tell whether the blurred picture on the wiki is meant to be a figure standing in front of a glowing blue screen/window, or a very zoomed-in image of a robotic face with six glowing blue eyes. Also, with all the new trade mechanics in the game I wonder whether we may end up seeing the Dust Collective as a major faction at some point.

He said we need to reveal them. Vaulters confirmed.

Sorry, I'm a Valve fan.

Really good looking ships. Now we need the Mezari/Vaulters ships. They were my favorite faction in both ES and EL. In EL they were the most technologically advanced faction and in ES they were the good looking scientists (I'm not a big fan of Sophons rounded spaceships). I hope to see them again in ES2 in a better shape.

You can sort of use turret shafts as a scale, considering they remain the same size across ships. We'll look into making it better, possibly with a 3D grid or some kind of scale. :)

Beautiful ships - most of them. The corvette looks like a bicycle seat. I think the destroyer needs to be redone. Since its design is similar to the Progenitors from HW2 the ears lookalike wings are very unpleasent to look at. Else I do not undestand the purpose of the moving parts like spoilers at the rear or the back and forth moving cockpits. I rather appreciate rotating turrets, opening and closing hangar bays, extending wing parts, charging super weapons animations, ...

Really? I love the new designs for them, there's more visual differentiation this time around. It's not "smooth blob" and "slightly bigger smooth blob".

Amen.

Maybe a little Sophon doing a spacewalk and repairing would be great or a red line representing a meter?

Yeah - this seems likely. The player just acts as a kind of invisible 'guiding force' that determines the path of their faction and the leaders are their figurehead.

The leader image for the Sophons used on the diplomacy screen in ES1 also depicted three individuals, so the triumvirate was already a part of their lore even then.

Is there room for an administrative AI network or a special project director in your heart instead of emperor? That is how I rationalized ES1 when I was playing them

I suspect the triumvirate is just going to be lore and not in game heroes as the heroes on the wiki seem to have no connection.
