What is a Lumeris? Is it a rank or job in Kalgeros society? Or a different race entirely? Other than that I'm really excited for the Mavros. I never knew I needed militaristic Sophons until now.

I never liked the Sophons in ES1, they looked too wrinkly. I was more of a Hissho-only player, with a dash of Automatons thrown in every once and a while.

I can answer, unequivocally and with complete honesty, that we are not going to answer this.

Yet....

I still have no clue who the Lumeris are. I suspect that they are one of the unrevealed Major or Minor factions in the game.

And since that hero's bio makes them out to be indulgent, I suspect that hey will be a faction focused on trade?

Am I right? Is that it?

Everybody needs militaristic Sophons. I thought that was accepted fact since ES1.

You got the tech, then you got the guns, then you kicked everybody else down.

Political ideology is just above ships:
POLITICAL IDEOLOGY: Militarist

I've just noticed, Wiki does not specify Cravers' population bonus nor political ideology.

Are we going to see more races from Endless Space 1 returning as Major/Minor Factions?

Automatons, Harmony, Pilgrims, Deuyivans and Sowers could fit the bill. I know the United Empire is all but confirmed at this point but they are probably the faction that least interested me, unlike the Pilgrims who have an interesting backstory and a cool ship design.

Also is there anything going to be done about the pirates in ES2? In the previous game they were a mere inconvenience at best both from a lore and gameplay perspective.

I'd like it if they would play a bigger role this time around and actually be an AI faction in games that you can negotiate or even ally, which of course will draw the ire of the other galactic factions.

And is that dust explosion in the Cravers trailer, the same one as in ES2's reveal trailer? What is its significance?

I believe this is the orbital bombardment the Virtuals used to try and stop the Cravers expansion, setting them back into "middle age" according to their lore, but i might be mistaken.

I do have to ask though, what's up with already having two minor factions with societies that revolve around martial arts and honor?

They are two separate societies that just happen to have martial arts and honor ingrained into them. Think China and Japan.

Holy hell, both are incredible intros, especially the Cravers! I never really played them in ES, but I definitely want to try them out this time around (I also feel attached by proxy, as I like the Necrophages).

So what is the role of that AI on the Sophon hierarchy? Is the AI supposed to be the player?

And is that dust explosion in the Cravers trailer, the same one as in ES2's reveal trailer? What is its significance?

WOW, you've really raised the bar with Cravers intro!

And I like how you've spoiled Mavros in Sega announcement post, yet no one cared to notice (i thought that's a Sophon battle division).

P.S. Requesting Mavros avatar :D

I like the expression "mobster lobsters" too much, but you're probably right

I have to assume the 4th faction is going to be human (if there's not more than one.)

Although, considering how human heavy Endless Space 1 and Endless Legend was, it would be hilarious if humans only showed up as a minor faction

Is the 4th faction going to be revealed at Gamescom as well or when the game goes into the Early Access phase?

It was already somewhat teased during the livestream event. When they zoom out to look at the trade routes map it shows the names for the leaders of each faction in the game. The 4th faction's territory is under the command of someone called St. Reola. While this may seem like just a tidbit we can actually infer several things from it:

1.) This faction will most likely be religious in nature, as the word Saint is most common in (and originates from) religion. Specifically Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

2.) This faction is most likely NOT the vaulters. While the icon is very Vaulter-esque and we have some evidence that the Vaulters will be in ES2, the 4th faction is not them. This is because in every game they have been lead by a member of the Zolya family. While they are semi-religious when science or Auriga is involved, there has never been documented evidence of saints in their society.

3.)The Lumeris confirm that Amplitude has teased races in artwork already released. The Lumeris were originally spotted in the market crash artwork from the marketplace/trade GDD. Therefore we can assume that this is not the first or only race teased this way.

So far based on what we know about the game, there are a handful of know factions from previous games that may fit the bill for the 4th faction. But until more information is released we will unfortunately not have enough evidence to know for sure.

Yeah I figured that the 4th faction would be a new comer and a peaceful/religious focused one.

Sophons, Cravers and Humans (they are pretty much guaranteed to show up) are probably the only Major Factions returning in ES2.

Considering we have 3 more unrevealed slots, one of which will be the contest faction, they only have two more Major Factions to reveal.
