Thats a shame I hoped for the Harmony to return as a major playable faction
they would have deserved it out of the reason that they were the most unique and the latest playable race released.

Also quite wierd why they would get extinct by the Dust.
Dust made them lost their link to the "Core" the rhythm of the Universe and trapped them in the Galaxie of the Endless.
The further result was individuality (which most of them hated) thats why they started to purge the galaxy of the Dust. Their technology was able to destroy and purge Dust from entire star systems and now they were just killed by it?!  Or wasent it Dust? But how could the Endless create another Plague if they were gone?

I hope this plotholes will be resolved one day.

Harmony seemed to be a lot of fun in the first Endless with a very unique playstyle. I'm sad that they are extinguish... I would have loved to see them return as a playable faction in the second Endless Space

Actually... if anything I think they are more than likely to be a playable race due to that event. I don't think Amplitude would imply you were fighting a Harmony if a fleet of pirate ships showed up, and this would rule them out as a minor fraction, as the minor fractions share ship designs. Therefore I think Harmony are a playable race whose assets have not been created yet, and that is why you face pirate ships. Hence in the final game, if my logic is correct, the pirate ships will be replaced with a Harmony vessel. I could see the Harmony working as an Ecologist fraction who wishes to remove the very much non-natrual dust from the universe. Hence I could see their government being composed of the Harmony and acolytes, if you will, of other races who have agreed to aid them in their mission.

When I got the event it was one of the standard minor faction/pirate vessels and one of the Sophon ships, oddly enough. From that I got the same impression - they don't currently have assets for various ship classes, and are grabbing placeholders that fit the intended size. I doubt the quest text would state the ships were blue crystal if they were intended to be using the generic pirate vessels.

It doesn't explicitly state that the Harmony were killed by Dust. It says the Endless engineered a plague to kill them. That implies that the Endless came into direct conflict with the Harmony.

Yeah I made the same assumption is it wasent the Dust (which is unlikely) it seems in this "reboot" the Harmony directly encountered the Endless and they fought a war or something.

If they did, they'd probably be reworked. They seem to be going in the direction of "no permanent effects" with this game - the Cravers have also had their Locust trait removed, and the Harmony's "no more Dust here" projects would likely get the same treatment. Which alone makes adding the race somewhat pointless.

Not true. The Cravers still deplete a planet. But it is now tied to the population. The more Cravers on a planet, the faster it depletes.

It reminds me of guardians on Auriga. The Endless kind of feared them otherwise they wouldn't have created hunter killer machines to eradicate them. That harmony thing in the screenshot sure has the size of one of them.

Well I guess the only hope is they pop up as a playable race in an expansion, unless they were redesigned as an ecologist fraction...

I don't mind that they're not bringing back all of the same races, but I hope the later ones are much more creative than what we have now. All the factions we have at the moment (and even most of the minor races) are humanoid creatures, whereas ES1 had the Amoeba and Sowers and other really cool ideas. The existing races are mechanically interesting, I just want more aesthetic variance (that is to say, more not-humanoids).

True. Nobody really knows the aftermath, and judging by the quest outcome, the Harmony could just be "sleeping it off".

Since ES2 is a reboot the plotholes are kind of resolved. They just redo their overall storyline and ectend, cut or modify the way they see fit. Just as the Hissho are now a minor faction.

And the Cravers too. You either have depleted systems or systems without dust or both or some shady mafia families trying to sell you the last profitable planets.

I hope we do see more of them in the future. Like a quest chain that unlocks them as a minor faction? It wouldn't be that hard to implement.

Also "Dust to Dust" is like is sying "bad things are going to happen to your stores of Dust. Beware."

Not much, the quest ends there.

It's definitely a precursor to some sort of end game crisis quest. The last few lines of that quest are something like "you remind yourself to look up more about the harmony later"
