Thing is, I'm not sure even their appearance or style is going to be similar to their ES1 design, judging by the preview artwork.

I really don't know what the Devs wanted to achieve with this faction... and  I guess I'll never find out why it was picked over the Amoeba or Sowers.

Or Hissho. Or Harmony. There were some awesome picks from the first game available.

For anybody who's watching the stream: has Amplitude revealed when update 2 is going to be released?

Beta-update comes right now and completed update after few weeks.

EDIT: On the Horatio faction wiki page, the sidebar shows that there are 4 unrevealed major factions. But looking at the page listing major factions, there are only two unrevealed. I'm guessing that these 'extra' factions are a bug of some kind?

 I think it's just a little bug with the template. Or maybe reserved for DLC's.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Amplitude adds the ecologist trait to the Unfallen even if it wasn't part of the original contest.

If Unfallen will be ecologists amplitude will be accused of stereotypical point of view. 

Tree-like species who are ecological are even more stereotypical than negroidal human preferring basketball over soccer.

If I understood it correctly there will be one more faction with the official update 2. So 3 more, but I might have gotten it wrong.

No,  update 2 is only adding Horatio plus the minor factions.

Update 3 and the final release update will each add a major faction to bring the total to eight.
